Question about RCA MM36110 36" TV

Connect MM36110 to Directv HD Receiver

I'm trying to connect my MM36110 to a new Directv HD Receiver.
In order to receive HD,a VGA cable must connect the two.The problem is the new receivers don't accept VGA.
Would a VGA to RCA or a VGA to HDMI cable work?
I would appreciate any help anyone could give me.
Thanks, J. Dean

HOW DO YOU CONNECT CABLE BOX

Connect a Cable Box to a Receiver:
1 Gather all your tools, parts and cables together before you start the connection process. Chances are you will need to connect several items at the same time, including your TV, audio system and TV cable receiver. Your cable box manual is likely to include a diagram of how to make the appropriate connections, so it's important that you read it before attempting any links.
2 Connect the output of the cable box to the input of the receiver. If you are connecting an audio system as well, make sure the audio output cables go directly into the receiver and, from there, to the cable box. Avoid direct connections; instead, go through the receiver for all secondary connections.
3 Select the correct jacks for sound and video. A newer model of receiver should offer several options, including analog TV out and DTV out. It should also offer an S-video and a service port. Depending on the type of cable box you use, one or more of the same jacks will be available there, too. When connecting both systems, make sure cables go between similar outputs.
4 Use an S-video connection cable to link your TV with your cable box. S-video connection cables allow you to preserve good quality in both image and audio. Most cable boxes come with S-video connection cables, but you can get them at any electronics store. Once you have them, simply connect both ends to the right output. It'll be easy to identify, because it's usually the only round one available.
5 Plug the TV, cable box and receiver into an electrical outlet to make sure everything is working properly. If you are getting static or interference, you may need to tighten the connections or change the cables.

I am unable to connect my JVD to my Phillips dvd player and have it play. The TV cable is direct and does not come through a cable box.

** in order to listen and watch your DVD, DVD 's "2xRCA audio" and "1x RCA Video" cables for "OUT" should go to Tv "IN" connections separately ..("IN" goes to "OUT" of other ..pls remember,Always reverse connected ) (audio will come thru Receiver and TV.)
Since you successfully connected your Receiver to play video on TV (one way only ) ,here is the second reverse action if you wish to listen your TV on Receiver
** you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or "SCART "connector " of your TV .( every TV has different type of Audio out jacks )
** to "TV input "or "AUX input" or "Optic Cable input"
of your Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the necessary cables on your hand )
** than just switch to respective mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..
There you go..Tv sound are on the
Receiver as well.

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.

I have DirecTV and I have sound but no picture and DirecTV is saying that its my TV but it worked fine last night and has not been on all day....I can't afford a new TV!

Check the video input on the TV. Make sure the video out from the DTV receiver is secure, and the TV input is as well. Make sure your TV in set to the right video input, and if all else fails, try a new wire for the video feed between the TV and DTV receiver. If possible, if you have another DTV receiver in your home, move the second receiver to where the first doesn't work (including the wires for video). It is possible that the receiver has a problem and DirecTV is full of BS. Be careful, DirecTV and Comcast, etc., are notorious for passing the buck onto the consumer. Worst case if you only have the one receiver, go to BestBuy, get a second, check your TV with the new one, and then return it to BestBuy when you are done. Not nice, but they do sell these for DirecTv. If it is the receiver now you will know for sure and you can call them and lean into them about their lack of professionalism and service, and probably get some freebies thrown your way. Good luck and I hope this helps.

They really are not much help, they will likely direct you to a Philips Authorized Repair Shop. Hope you have warranty or some kind of insurance. Damage from a storm does not fall under warranty. Good Luck!

Is this TV HD capable?

This is not an HDTV. However, that does not mean you cannot use it to view the HD channels with DirecTV, you just wont be able to view them in hi-def. Use the component inputs from the directv tuner and plug those into the proper component inputs of your JVC. Once you see the DirecTV picture on the screen, go into menu... setup (with the directTV remote) and make sure that the only resolution checked is 480i. DirecTV with 'downconvert' those cannels to standard def, and they will still look pretty good though the component connection...

... now, in answer to your next question: "What exactly do I need to view HDTV with DirecTV?"...

1. A television that will accept 720p or 1080i signals.
2. A DirecTV HD Tuner.
3. Any DirecTV service BUT you must purchase the HD pack so that they will 'unlock' the HD channels
4. The proper cables to hook in between your DirecTV HD receiver and your HD-capable TV/Monitor. You may use either HDMI or component video cables, so long as your TV will accept them. Tune your TV input accordingly. When using component video cables, you must also run a separate cable(s) for audio...

Take care,
Rob

ps. DirecTV HD tuners do not have an RF 'out'. ("coaxial or ch3/4 connection")

DIrectv Sat internal box.

You can try eliminating whethor or not the receiver is actually the problem by moving it to another TV and seeing if it works on one that isn't having any problems. Or moving a working receiver onto the TV to see if it will pick up signal with a working receiver. If you don't have any receivers in your house working, then odds are something needs to be serviced outside your home, like the Dish and/or LNB.

Did DirecTV actually come out to the home and troubleshoot at the site? If not, they would have no way of knowing if it's the TV or Satellite that's causing the issue.
