Question on BB2125 2 Channel Amp

I just recieved the amp from a friend who indicated it wasn't working. When I power up, the red led indicator light, indicating "protected" lights up but I do not get the green led "active" to light up.

On this pwr up, I didn't have an active input source connected to it, will it only switch to active when it senses an input source connected?

Hi jgoudie

It is a signal sensing turn on unit, so will not turn on until you have supplied signal to it. Plug it into a signal source and see what it does. But unfortunately, in my experience the protection light coming on means there is a fault in the amp.

You can download the user manual for the amp from here. Click downloads in the middle of the page:)

no worries mate.... any chance of an upgrade to FixYa rating. Anything but a FixYa actually decreases my rank. Cheers mate

I noticed it was 2 red lights inside the amplifier, what does it mean?

The amp has 7 LED's in total 4 whiteLED's provide back lighting
the bi-colour LED white/ amber is the power/standby indicator (amber when amp is in standby mode)
The two red LED's are on the Phono Board and form part of the phono amplification circuit.( D1 & D2)They are NOT fault indicators and should be lit during normal operation.

My amps stays in the clip mode where as the light on the two channel stays red

Page 7...

CLIP: red, to the left of each Gain control.

Normal indication: illuminates whenever the amplifier is driven beyond full power. The LED's brightness indicates the amount of distortion. Distortion that causes only brief flashing may not be audible.

During muting, the indicator fully illuminates. This occurs during normal "On-Off" muting.

Abnormal indication:

•Bright red illumination while the amp is being used indicates either thermal muting or a shorted output.

•If the amplifier overheats, the fan will run at full speed, and operation should resume within one minute. Allow the fan to run, and make sure the amplifier ventilation is adequate.

•A shorted or overloaded output circuit will cause excessive Clip flashing and possible overheating.

•If distortion is audible without a Clip indication, the problem is either before or after the amplifier. Check for damaged speakers or overloaded signal source. The amplifier Gain control should be in the upper half of its range to prevent input overload.

I have a Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 amplifier that wont start. Its LED flashes red and yellow indicating that something is wrong. Does anyonehave any idea why?

I work on power amplifiers and I can offer a few suggestions
The flashing light means the amplifier is in "Protect" mode.
This could mean one of two things: 1. The speakers are not connected properly or, 2. There is a component failure in one of the output amp sections.
It might be as easy as a blown fuse in the circuit that powers one of the amp sections.
Not knowing your technical background , I can't say much more about opening the unit and checking for certain things

Marantz pm7200 hdam, will not power up, checked internal fuses all ok, over rid the internal power-on rely and power amp powers up but pre amp circuit still dead, any idea, power panel look fine but...

The preamp stage might be dead. Not much you can do but to bring it in. Make sure the input selector is on the right input.
Sometimes there's a "Monitor input" usually Tape2 input that overrides everything

Power issues with Amp

You have an internal short or your pos/neg or speaker wire connections are shorted somewhere. Double check them and if they are good the amp is bad

Most likely one or more pairs of the output transistors is shorted. The amp is attempting to drive a signal into a 0 or low ohm load. This unit should see a service center for repair.

Europower Beringer PMH3000 power turns on then turn off?

when you turn on the AMP and the red light comes on give the amp 2 seconds and turn it back on the red light should turn off. That is what I do with the amps at my church and it works for me, I hope that this works for you too.

ADCOM GFA7500 problem

I don't have experience with the 7500 but I had a 7000 with multiple bad channels (red light lit). The problem was bad filter capacitors on the amplifier boards. The large black filter caps (two per channel) were leaking on every amp board. Its a relatively easy repair if you can solder.

FYI you'll probably need a set of small hex head drivers to open the unit.

maybe you should try to check for a HEAT SWITCH or RELAY FUSE or Fuse located inside the amp. the red indicator was telling you that it TRIPED maybe due to SHORTED terminals from speaker or it reached its maximum peak thats why it triped. email me if it worked. im preaty shure it will work. ciao

Behringer EP2500 no output on CHANNEL 1

check all op amps for correct voltage swing +-should be equal, test output of op amps no voltage should be present, use chasis gnd as tester neg.check voltage regulation especially 12v or 15v +-.note some amps show unequal led indications when only 1 channel connected to a load.I will try to get some more info on this specific amp because i don't know this circuit well, keep in touch as you update though.
