Looking at the date of your original post this may or may not help you. I have the same exact unit with the same exact problem. What I found was the plug was running very hot, like in excess of 150 degrees sometimes. Sometimes the air conditioner would work fine and other times it would act up, (like not completely shutting down). So I decided to change the plug today, and much to my surprise it is working flawlessly. The plug and cord are now nice and cool. I've had it running for over 8 hours now with the new plug and the problem has not come back. I cut apart the old plug and did find the wires blackend where they are crimped to the blade terminal. Hope this helps someone in the future. If the plug on any appliance is running hot to the touch, then I would start first by changing out the plug.

OK. So this air conditioner is not working again. It worked for another week after changing out the plug. I have since found the discontinued control panel # 11150501 on E-Bay for relatively cheap money. Search the part# on E-Bay and it comes right up with 2 sellers. I will post back if this fixes it when the part arrives. I pulled the control panel out of the unit and it looks a bit corroded here and there, so I will swap it out as I feal confident with this diagnosis. I read that these can fail in high humidity environments.

I since received the new control board but I also found the motor run capacitor was leaking and very rusty. I tested the old board for continuity in the power wire wires with ti switched in the off position and there is continuity there. The new control board has no continuity between any of the wires within its connector. I suspect the capacitor went bad and caused some kind of fault in the board. I will change the capacitor before I install the new board for fear of ruining it.

I will keep you posted with the results.

Fan continues to run in the off position?

The contacts in the switch are welded shut (if this is a portable unit). On a central system, the fan relay contacts are welded shut.

My amana ptac is not heating....the code "np" is do I correct this...we just installed the unit and know little about operation. Thanks

I don't see this error code in the manual. I do see nP as an error code for Window Switch lockout. I just had this happen to me and they had me reset the control board.

Remove case, flick master switch to OFF for 10 seconds. Press Heat/Cool same time turn switch back on HOLD until off light comes on.

You should be fixed. Just had to do this for my unit. I was playing around with the settings and turned on the window switch option by accident.

Where do i find the model # on my a/c unit. It is 14 years old.

The model number should be inside the area on the front that the cold air comes out. If not it will be located on the front bottom edge. Hope this helps

Water does not drain from my Amana quiet zone AC. It builds up inside, then causes rusty looking sedement to blow into my house. How/where is the water supposed to drain to the outside? Thank you, Bobbi

If this is a window unit it has to tilt a little to the back(outside) for the water to drain off the bottom back side. I am suspecting the unit is setting tilted toward the room a little. Look at that first. Hope I was of help to you!! Good luck!!

Blown fuse?

Is the display still showing anything? If the display is blank check outlet for power? If you have trip the circuit breaker, unplug the unit before you reset it. Set the controls to off. When the power is back on Trying running the fan first, then try the AC. The flashing may just be a max temperature reading.
