I think the ignitor might have failed, that could be why it was being sold.

This isn't generally a tough replacement and not too costly.

If you are fortunate enough to be in the US and near a Johnstone Supply, you can save 20-50% of the normal dealer price that is somewhere between $30-40 US.
They call themselves 'wholesale' but I have never been turned away in any of their stores

The two links below give you the locations in AZ and the catalog page of available part numbers.

Everything works except the heater

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Maytag Performa PYE2200AYW Dryer Heats intermittently

i had the same problem with my dryer and i installed the wrong thermal fuse for gas dryer which calls for a pink thermal fuse in which i installed and it works fine also check the lint in the front of your dryer. also my dryer which is the same make as yours seems will run on the fluff cycle until i replaced the right thermal fuse. my dryer run exceptionally hot and eventally shut down and it only run on the fluff cycle for any length of time.

Dryer works but no heat. We just moved...

most likely there is something wrong with the way the cord is wired to the machine or the outlet is dead. Dryers dont usually get damaged just by moving them. did u change the power cord. red on one end white in the middle black on the other end and green to cabinet ground.

Dryer spins but no heat

Did you check the power coard where it connects to the dryer? Start at the source. Make sure that you have at least 110v on each line. The dryer will tumble on 110v but requires 220v to heat. If you have 220v then check the t-stat and thermal cut-out on the blower. Check all wires for loose or burnt terminals. If all that is good it may be a bad motor or timer/control. I'm happy that you have a meter.
Good luck.
