Why does text not print?

Try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to to download the firmware update.

Also, try printing a test page from the printer. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Print Test Page. If all colors come out okay, then it's a driver problem. Try to uninstall the driver and download an updated driver online at

If there's a problem with the output of the test page, please contact our technical support team.

I want to install a u-print cdp78 printer. It was bought about 2 years ago and want to know if it will install in win 7 64 bit. Both printer and laptop are new.

According to the information available on the manufacturer's support website, U-Print CDP78 works with Windows XP and later operating systems.

You can download the Windows 7 64-bit compatible driver from the driver download page by clicking this link.

On the page which opens, download the "U-Print Label Printer Driver" in .zip format from the PC Driver/Software Download section.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

Printer prints blank pages

Inkjet print heads have a tendancy to clog with disuse. If your cartridges include the heads, you can sometimes use a bit of alcohol to loosen the blockage. Soak a bit of paper towel and place the cartridge on it for a while. Then replace the cartridge and do a head cleaning.

I've reloaded drivers, it prints out test page fine. When sending others like web pages etc it sends blank pages through with some charachters on them

Certain web pages require a Postscript driver, not a PCL driver. HP printers usually can do both. You can check this by going into properties for the printer (right-click), go under advanced, and check the driver file. Go to the HP website and make sure that if it gives a choice, that you got the right one. Also make sure you are not using a 64-bit driver on a 32-bit system. This can give you limited or no functionality. Their are also some pages that just don't print from the Internet, that is why the pages often have print friendly links. Make sure this is not the case by printing something you know should print, like a Word document or a picture.

HP laserjet 5L prints only 2/3 to 3/4 of the page of a 1 page doc

which bit is usually missing?

If it only prints the 1st 3/4 ish of the page then it could either be the page slipping a bit due to poor pick up rollers or much more likely it could be that you are sending a large file to the printer and the printer does not have enough memory.

Try printing in draft or scale down the res/size of the file you are printing

Printer printed test page but won't stop printing

Please follow exactly and IN ORDER.

1. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

2. Let the printer print the test page.

3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)
