Yu possibly have a virus You will need to format the hard drive and reload Windows if this doesn't work you will need a new hard drive. Try to "defragment the hard drive 1st. check the disk for errors.
Unfortunitly yes yo hvae to like dysect the thing just a little but this type of upgrade should be done by someone experienced to advoid damage to the unit.

The BIOS may not support the larger drive at all; I suggest you look for a Toughbook forum and repost there and check Panasonic's site for a manual download and possibly a BIOS upgrade if the unit is equipped with a flash BIOS.
