Saving movies to computer

I have a Panasonic SDR-H40 & a HP DV6910 laptop. Installed Panasonic videocam suite with no problems. Took some film and can view it on the software with no problem. When I try to 'copy to PC'. I get a fault message 'THE VIDEO TYPE IS NOT PAL. THIS VIDEO CANNOT BE COPIED OR REGISTERED. (CODE 442-E-100)

How do I get around this?

I put the original problem on this page.

I reinstalled the software onto the computer. Make sure you select the video type for the country you purchased the camera in. I purchased in the U.S. and therefore needed to select NTSC even though the camera will be used in the U.K. You should now be able to download to PC, and then on to DVD. Make sure that it is a NTSC DVD player that you are trying to view the movie on.

Same problem as everyone that probably has one of these cameras and not the exact computer the software was designed to run on. I got NERO DVD burn software and am now able to see the camera hard drive and recognize my videos. I have Windows XP but as long as you get the right NERO software your troubles will probably be forgotten. After learning of doing it like this I'm really glad the Panasonic software didn't work because I'm sure I have a much better handle on how I want my videos burned to DVD.

Where can I buy/download the suite for Panasonic SDR-H40 HDD camcorder

I find this: videocam-suite-297215.html

Some programs dont wokr under Windows 7, or sometiemes dont do it under 64bits (laptops); just try to look HERE or ask directly to Panasonic Support.

I know that this isnt solve your problem, but the better way is trying with the manufactured.

Hope this helps; just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Have a nice day and thanks for using FixYa. P.S. Congrats for the wedding!!!

Hi, you can transfer the files to your computer, you just can't use the camera's VideoCam editing software. However, you can still view the movies and photos taken by the camera using standard Windows programs.

Can't save individual scenes as separate mpg files

Instead of using the camera suite... download your video from your camcorder directly to your PC in a folder (video's). there you will see each individual file (scene) that you took that day instead of one large scene. Then you can download/edit whatever scene you want into movie maker or just copy a sene right to a dvd
