Each Video file has an extension (called file extension, like doc and docx for Word) after the filename [filename.ext, or filename.xxx].
to play a video you need:
1- a video player software, and
2- a bit of software called CODEC (wich in my opinion is very important) capable of reading and writing the file extension we need to play.
*** CoDec follows the same formation pattern as MoDem (Modulator / Demodulator) comes to mean Compressor / Decompressor.
