Question about MetroBook VL Plus C-266 Notebook

Open Question

Metrobook II Greetings, I recently inherited a Metrobook II laptop that seems to run fine. The current OS is Win 95 and I would like to install Win 98SE. Ideally, I plan to reformat the HD and perform a clean install of Win 98, but before I do that, I would like to back up the drivers for video, audio, etc. My question is, do you know where I can download drivers for this model laptop and possibly the manual? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Albert

How or where do i get a windows 7 boot download to copy to disc to sort my omnibook xe3 out it currently has win98se installed but thirs allsorts missing.

Upgrade the memory and try win xp you'll see better performance. You can download win 7 from lots of places free.

It is the license that you have to purchase that people seem to be trying to find a get around for.

Just go to Microsoft website or search for win 7 iso

Good luck and thanks

Software windows 98se

It would be helpful if we knew the Make, Model of Laptop. If the Laptop is that old the hardware specs may not support a software upgrade to say Win XP or above. Windows 98se drivers may be a bit difficult to find. The software has been un-supported for many years, soon XP will be on that list. But it's possible with a search of the Make, Model of Computer and the OS.

Windows vista install

Hello Mario.

Try to use this. It`s a freeware tool to setup any Win OS from USB.
I use it for installing Win 8 and work`s fine.

Copy the whole link to your browser and get it.
It`s from Computer Bild a site to download many free Prog`s.

When i install audio driver of lenovo g450 then its shows a error your media device cannot found

try to install the audio driver of G530, this is the link:

for win vista OS

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_215.html

for win 7 OS

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_1943.html

remove your current audio driver by device manager:

click start > run > type devmgmt.msc

under audio, right click the device and remove the driver

then restart pc and install the driver

Need drivers to run windows 98se on dell xps m140

Microsoft (and Dell) stopped supporting Windows 98 a few years ago -- it lasted for over TEN years! So, it is *NOT* likely that you will find drivers for any computer that was "designed for Windows 2000" or "designed for Windows XP" or "designed for Vista".

So, in general, it is a _bad_ idea to connect any computer running Windows 98 to the Internet -- Microsoft has issued many "security-fixes" in the 4 years after they stopped supporting Windows 98 and Windows ME.

Which OS were you using? Can you boot from the install CD/DVD and try to repair from there? Can you go into setup at boot time and make sure your hard drive is recognized?

HELP

Are you trying to upgrade 95 to 98SE or just new install of 98.
What you may have to do is
  1. insert win 98 boot floppy
  2. boot with cdrom support
  3. at the prompt change to cd drive E:\ (press enter)
  4. at the E:\ prompt type cd Win98 (press enter)
  5. at the E:\Win98 prompt type format C:\ (press enter)
  6. confirm all data will be erased
  7. reboot with floppy in and at the a:\ prompt run FDISK to see if the full size of the hard drive is available. (option 4)
  8. If everything is normal exit fdisk reboot with floppy, choose with cdrom support, type in the cdrom drive letter (usually e) and cd Win98(change directory Win98)
  9. at the win98 prompt type setup (press enter) and follow the prompts.
