The general directions: move your furniture out of the way and plan your path so that you can leave the room without crossing the just cleaned floor. Pretreat any stains/heavily soiled areas with either the Bissel PreTreat formula following the directions for the product or place the deep cleaner over the stain and press the CleanShot button. Let stand for thirty seconds and then vacuum up the solution.
To use the machine: first fill the water tank. Remove it from the ProHeat by lifting the handle straight up. Carry it to the sink and then remove the top. Flip the latch on the back of the tank up. Note how the groove on the bottom lines up with the lip on the top. Fill the bottom with hot water then replace the top and latch it. Make sure it is secure before moving. Then return the tank to the shampooer.
Fill the formula tank by unscrewing the cap and insert. Then fill to the line with the cleaning solution. (If you are using the concentrate, put in 3 capfuls of the concentrate and then fill to the line with water.)
Set the dial to the desired cleaning cycle setting. Set the Ready Tools dial to the floor cleaning setting. Now plug in the deep cleaning system and turn it on (both the power and the heat switches). Wait one minute for the heater to heat the water. Tilt the unit down with the detent pedal to ensure that the power brushes can turn. Pull the trigger and make a slow forward pass and then a reverse path. Then release the trigger and repeat the forward and back path. Repeat the forward and back clean and then vacuum passes until you do not see the solution remains clean when you vacuum it up. Then continue vacuuming only until no more water comes into the machine.
You can set the cleaning cycle dial to rinse and then repeat the cycles with clean water and then vacuum only to dry. Alternatively, wait until you are finished. Dump out the water bucket and then refill with clean water. Then do the rinse cycle if desired.
There are a couple of models of the Bissel ProHeat 2X Deep cleaners. For the complete list, see http://www.bissell.com/products . The user's manual is available in a link from the individual product page. The manual to the Bissel ProHeat 2X Healthy Home System is available here: http://www.bissell.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=625 .
The most common problems with the unit are with the cleaning/water release or vacuum cycles. Make sure that all of the parts are properly assembled and filled. There is a float in the tank that can be a problem if you move the unit too quickly. Turn off the unit, unplug it and wait one minute. Then plug it back in and turn it on. Make your forward and reverse passes at a slower pace. See the manual for other issues.
I hope this helps.
