Question about Kenmore 47153 Stainless Steel Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range
I need to replace the glass top of my range: Kenmore Elite Model No: 780.46623502. This is a dual fuel and the cook top is gas. Thus the replacement is only for the glass top (part no: 318223722).
The question is: Is there any adhesives or gaskets required for this replacement? The glass seems to be sitting on the top (no frame around - this is a slide in range) and there is only a gasket/seal in the front. I assume that I need to take out the burner caps, the burners and the seals. Is there any other part that needs to be replaced as part of this exercise? Do I need any adhesive?
Finally, is there any tip of how you seal the gap (if it is sealable) between the glass top and the countertop underneath as this is always a place of dirt trying to get in.
Many thanks in advance

check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

SOURCE: replace glass on front of oven
Hi You need a high temperature silicone adhesive designed for this purpose. There are a number of companies that make a suitable glue. There is also a company, http://ovendoorglue.co.uk that make a small kit specifically for the purpose of fixing your oven door. Do not use normal adhesive, as the correct adhesive not only is heat proof to 300 degrees centigrade, but also remains flexible when cured. This ensures that as the oven heats up, and the metal and glass expand, the flexibility in the glue prevents stress in the glass. Dow Corning make a glue that can be used, but be aware that it is red, and so may show. Other glues are black. Indeed the black glues tend to be slightly thicker on application and dry quicker.
