Question about Maytag MMV5207A Microwave Oven
Had the kitchen timer with the fan on. Microwave died after 40min. Opened the microwave and it was really hot inside. Checked the plug and it works. Replug the microwave the next day and it still doesn't work. Please help
I would bet that instead of the kitchen timer's being on, the oven was running on high but empty for that forty minutes.
This would have led to overheating, which would have blown the thermostat on the magnetron.
Hopefully the thermostat did its job protecting the magnetron from damage, but 40 minutes running empty is pretty scary...
If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.
There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.
