You will need to reset to default settings, and it will change it to 0000

    try >>

Disconnect the battery, reconnect and switch it on whilst holding down both top two corner clear buttons. It should restart in recovery mode. Toggle down and select RECOVERY folder, then select. If this folder is corrupted you will have to get a copy off of the internet and replace it using the usb connector. This usually does the trick, if it will not start in recovery mode, it's a SONY job

Give it a go - - any probs...please come back to me.

Have you done any modifying with your PSP? Downloaded updates? Sometimes these things can "brick" your PSP which I certainly hope isn't the case but is worth looking into.

    Good luck

I bought 2 psp units model 3001 for my kids with original 5.03 version. I can upload iso/rar games to these psp. I wonder why your unit is 6.31. Version 5.03 is uploadable and can play iso/rar games using chicken software ( for upgrading 5.03 to 6.31 version) and gen-c software for activating the games.

Have you tried simple answers like 1111, or 1234, etc? If so, I believe you can reset the system settings in Settings>System Settings>Reformat System Settings, or something or other.

Kids playing with system put lock code on it and now we cant get off dont know what it is..parental control

Try 0000 and then 9999. These are the default passwords. If those don't work:

Turn on the PSP.
In the main menu, under "Settings" (Toolbox Icon), go to System Settings. Press X.
Go to "Restore Default Settings". Press X

The password should reset to 0000 or 9999.

Downgrage psp version 5.51 to psp version 4.00

currently there is not a 5.51 to 4.00 downgrader. please check on the bottom of the silver trim on your psp there should be a bar code if the first four digits are AB02 then the psp is unhackable and you will have to use HEN to play games if the 4 digits are AB01 and below you can hack the psp via pandora

Im being asked for a 4 digit code to play certain umd films yet others play fine .what code do i need

if the rating on the movie is something like R. you will have 2 put in a parental code. the default code is 0000. if that is not it and u cant remember what is is then go over to settings scroll down to system settings, then down to Restore Default settings.(then it will be 0000)
then you can scroll down to security settings and turn that option off if u wish. hoped this helped

PSP umd region code

yes, try changing region to region 1 as it is possible the umd (disk you bought) is designed not to run unless the region matches. you'll probably have to change it again if you want to read disks from different regions.
my kids have the psps on their holidays at the moment back tomorrow, i will check the restore menus tomorrow for you and see if there is any other changes possibley needed,
also it is worth a try but try changing xmd to umd disk ( eventhough this is for access to memeory usually for usb connection, although it could be something to do with ver 3.71) note youl have to change it back to enter usb mode from your computer.
is yours the PSP slim version or standard version, ?
