Nobody can give you info on an individual bike beyond what you can find with a Google search for "Schwinn Breeze serial number" (which will only tell you date of manufacture) and for "Schwinn Breeze" (which will give you more general info).
Schwinn doesn't make the hub. You need to find out what brand the hub is. The three most common are: Sturmey-Archer, SRAM and Shimano. Then you can do some online research to find a schematic of your hub, or find a good repair manual like Barnett's, Park or Bicycle Magazine that have 3spd hub instructions.
Start with the checking the cable tension first before taking apart the hub, 9 times out of 10 that is the issue with a 3spd hub. If something is actually broken inside it will be very difficult finding parts, most places will sell you a whole hub but not the parts (these days the component is meant to be replaced not fixed).
Just in case someone else reads this and need to adjust a Sturney Archer 3 speed system, Check out this video by Bikeman4U: https://youtu.be/X0s-z5eVKDU
As for the OP's dilema. The bike shop probably switched bikes with you. It's too late now that it's been 5 years when it happened. For anyone else taking in their bike to a shop for repair. Take pictures of you bike for proof.
Dear Sir: 1) You must LUBE the Deck Belt, in according with the instruction manual. The deck maybe is worn. 2) See if the deck belt is in bad condition. 3) Test the drive belt if o.k 4) Test the main motor if running, if not the motor need attention and repair. 5)Test the input voltage for motor coming from the main motor BOARD. see my personal TIPS for HELP.
You should be able to go to a bike shop and they would be able to cut a length to size for your bike if not I have had luck lawn mower shops they do carry chains
