The pictures have to be in the correct format.
On the computer, use the Tools - View menu to change the options to 'do not hide file extensions'
Then compare the file extension of a picture that does display on the camera with a picture that does not display on the camera.
Let us know what the extensions are.

e.g. camera extension pictures may have .raw and your pictures which don't work may be .bmp ???

I have taken photos and they are sitting on my camera but realised I didnt have a memory stick in the camera. Is there a way to get them onto the memory stick or onto a computer

Look in the Setup menu and see whether there's a "Backup" or "Copy" entry. If so, use it to copy the pictures from the internal memory to the memory stick.

Alternatively, you can connect the camera to your computer with the supplied cable and transfer the pictures that way.

My memory stick is protected

Hello,
Just wanted to know if there is a slide switch anywhere on the memory card? .. See the image below where it says LOCK:
http://www.labamanta.lv/cache/product_images/big/20090205/sandisk_2gb_sd_card_1.jpg

Toggle the switch if there is any and that should help.

Getting my pictures back onto my camara

Connect camera with computer with USB cord, power up camera, computer will recognize it and if you installed Sony image mixer software that will prompted, close it, click My Computer, click removable Disk, click folder to open it, now you can copy pictures from computer and paste here but be careful about picture file name should be DSCxxxxx some thing, if you have already changed file names then camera will not show these picture in playback mode though pictures would be on memory stick.

Drag and drop. open my computer and select source file, then click my computer again and select the memory stick ( you should have 2 open windows, best if minimilised ) then just drag and drop. Mouse over, left click and hold the left button drag the picture(s) to the stick and let go of the left button.

I am trying to get pictures from my memory stick and place the pictures on my computer is there a way to do that

You computer must contain the proper port for any camera, if you are using a USB flash drive, you simply connect it to any USB port, if however it is a camera memory stick you will need to buy the external hardware that allows you to extract the pictures from the memory stick, this piec of hard ware can be found at any computer store.
