Question about Citizen Eco-Drive Silhouette EW869452D Wrist Watch

1 Answer

I purchased my second citezen watch in auburn, Massachusetts also i purchased the two year warranty. My warranty expired in february and my eco drive watch expired in july of 2008. I took the watch to get it repaired and found the the repairs for the watch would cost me more than the watch was worth i love my citizen watch and miss seeing it on my wrist. Is there anything that you can do to replace or repair my watch at a low cost

Very similar situation here. Bought a second Citizen Eco Drive - the Blue Angels Aviator to replace the first one that just stopped after about 3 - 4 years. Now this one has stopped as well. I'm quite certain that I will not purchase another one, at over $100 per year, it just does not seem right. Looks like Citizen is selling a 'shot in the dark' watch and I'm through gambling. Anyone want a two for one?

This does not sound indicative of citizen watches...they usually have great movements. A new watch movement might be $100 when shipped back; I had a Kenneth Cole that cost $60 to get a new watch battery and link removed. Check with them, or on the internet; there are tons of e-tailers that sell used or new movements. Buy it and take it to a GOOD watch repair shop. Most shops have the tools but little knowhow so check around. they should be able to drop it in with little hassle, otherwise my recommendation is to go to Zales and pick up a preowned watch for $60...I got a beautiful Calibre 2100 for $105!

Setting time for citizen eco-drive E764-S066701 HST perpetual movement

No need to take the back cover off or anything like that. You don't need jeweler either. You just need to pull the crown to first "click" and the turn the crown to the right to correspond to the month that you are setting the time in. Between 1 and 2 o'clock represents January. Between 2 and 3 is February and so on. Once you get to the beginning mark of the month you are in, count how many years have passed since the last leap year. If it's 2 then put the second hand to two minutes after even (beginning). If it's three, move it to three minutes after. If it's leap year, you just put on exact (beginning) mark of the month you are in.

That would be it. Like I have said, no need to visit jeweler or do any disassembling. Also, you might this find interesting. The steps above are for E764 calibre. This site gives you manuals for pretty much all of them.

Citizen eco drive watch is brand new, but the second hand doesn't move. Watch does keep time and date.

You should take the watch back to the dealer for exchange or refund since it would be under warranty, taking the watch apart will void your warranty leaving you unhappy with your purchase.

Eco-drive watch stop working, after it was in jewelry box for over a year.

First, be sure that the stem is fully pressed in. Pulling out the stem to set the watch stops the action.
The Eco-Drive is still a battery watch. It just has a solar/light powered recharge system built in. The battery will run down after a year of no light. Place the Eco-Drive in bright sunlight for a couple of days in order to recharge the built-in battery. You may recharge the watch in fluorescent light as well, it just takes longer.

How do I find out on my watch how far from leap year we are .its acitizen eco-drive

Pull out the crown to position 1 and the second hand moves to the month position while the small dial moves to the years since last leap year position.

If you haven't got a manual to fully understand what the indications mean, go to "citizen.com", click on "Technical Support"amd then on "setting instructions".

Enter the number required off your watch and click on "get setting instructions".
