Netgear are products that are last to just about 90 days. I am a computer tech and do a lot of house and business calls to TS networks. Most problems come from Netgear, once they switch to another brand, the problem disappear. Even I had a wireless Netgear router, and had to return it because the life span was about 4 month and the complimentary support is only 90 days.
Just by rebooting the modem (turning it off and on) usually fix it for about 8 hours, then the cycle start again. After rebooting the modem/router, delete your saved network from Windows 8 and start fresh. That should work.
If you connect the computer to the router , it works. That means the wired connection is OK. Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router. I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key. just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
