These lights for the dash are controlled by a rheostat instrument control dimmer switch next to the main light switch for the headlights, it is either turned off (have seen this dozens of times) or it is defective. Below is a picture of the switch assembly I speak of. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control.
Can't believe FORD would just replace the fuse an send you on your way ! You must have not wanted work done they suggested . Cost too much for diagnostic's ! Because I work at a ford dealer , you have a short to ground somewhere in the insturment cluster or wiring .Why didn't you have them fix it ? An what is it you want to know ?
It sounds like there's a short in the wiring and I assume dashboard light to mean the lights for your gauges and not the lights for your a/c, fan, heat. You'll have to remove your dash board to get at your gauges and then you'll have to test each wire with a voltmeter for resistance to see which is shorted... I've seen wires that for some reason, will fuse together and short out
check ur fuse box, make sure u didnt blow the fuses, thats what it sounds like.... just find the fuse panel and pull out 1 fuse at a time and look to see if there is a break in the fuse, should be clear pastic with a peice of metal in it, if its broken then replace the fuse(s)
