How old is the battery? In what year was it manufactured?
Batteries _DO_ wear out, i.e., fail to recharge.
You can either buy a new battery (eBay is a good place to look),
or find a company that disassembles the battery, and replaces the cells that take/hold a charge,
i.e., like replacing the batteries inside a flashlight, instead of totally discarding the flashlight.

Laptop overheated

Try to remove battery, wait at least 10 seconds, than insert it back and see if it turns on.

Compaq presario cq62, plugged in but won't charge battery

The rechargeable battery needs to be replaced, the old one is just about exhausted. Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of laptop, refine search to battery, and I recommend sticking with new genuine.

My laptop pluged in but not charging

There could be many problems with your laptopFirst, check if your laptop was plugged into a surge protector (ex. Power Strip). If it wasn't, a surge could destroy the charger, power supply, or even motherboard.
Second, try a different charger. If it was the charger that broke, then try a different one. I have had this happen to many off my computers over the years.
If it is fried, take it to Staples, or a local computer shop. I would always recommend plugging computers into surge protectors. Good luck!

Hey... my cq62 has been off all day.... on charge.. it now will not turn on... no orange light on next to power cable... tried charger in other laptop and it is working.... help please

Try re-inserting power cable as for charging satisfy the charging light is on. (If it Has One) While charging, turn on see if it works? If pos do your biz close trying not tomove unit, could be a faulty connection, not locating properly in socket?

My compaq presario 2200 wont boot up...when i press the on/off switch without the a/c charger (battery alone), the amber led flashes twice....if i plug the charger in with the battery, the led blinks once...

Hello,

If the computer is not turning on, there is a big chance of hardware failure and normally there is no easy fix for this rather than a motherboard replacement.

Compaq presario C762NR notebook pc I have trouble charging it, the blue light turns on and off. Once I plug it in I need to move the charger around in order to start charging

You either have bad wires or loose connection. Take the prongs on the plugin and bend them both outwards. Use wrench if needed. Bend them just enough so they will stay in the outlet without being loose. This is the most common problem with charging
