Hi Neil, I understand your concern. If i were you i would buy a small external webcam which is available for laptops. There are two reasons for that. First of all, if you take it to the Acer repair center, they will charge you a huge amount (since it is not in warranty). Second thing is that the lead which you are talking about is practically impossible to get other than from their manufacturer.
One is to buy the correct AC adapter (Charger) for the laptop. Two is to buy an aftermarket AC adapter that will work for your laptop, but will also work for many other laptops.
