We have canon ir2000 Once when we switch on the machine, the scanner was below the reader glass but scanner was not moving while reader motor (scanner motor) was trying to move the scanner. After that we switch off the machine and remove copy glass and move scanner manually. Again we switch on machine after closing copy glass. Now reader motor (scanner motor) moves scanner but scanner do not go into home position he stops at the middle of copy glass. What is this problem and how it will be solved. Please solve it. Thanks

When you turn on the copier the scanner should move out of home position and the light come on. If the scanner moves you have a bad sensor. If the scanner does not move something is binding it up or the motor is bad. Power off the copier, take off the glass and try move it gently by hand, look to see what is binding it up.
Oil the rails, check the set screw is tight on the shaft on the right side.

While you have the glass off check the sensor. Look inside toward the left rear and see if it is damaged or knocked loose.

If not, probably scanner home position sensor faulty or flat cable of scanner.

Scanner error 5 indicates that the scanner head is not moving. This is most often caused by a bad scanner motor. If you open the ADF top, you should see the main scanner glass and then a small piece of glass. This smaller glass is held in place by one screw and a plastic retainer. Remove the screw and retainer, pop the glass out and smell the inside of the scanner. If you smell burned elecrical then that motor has definitely failed and you either have to try and find another scanner or find a donor motor. (the HP 3380, 3330 and M2727 all use the same motor).

Ok it can be either 2 things: The FIRST is if you have not UNLOCKED the scanner lock switch. The scanner lock switch is a switch that keeps the scanner assembly frozen in place so that when you move your scanner from room to room or apartment to house, the scanner wont freely move around the unit causing it to be dammaged.

To unlock the Scanner lock switch just lift your document cover and look for the swtch on the LEFT hand side of the scanner's glass bed.

SECOND: IF the scanner lock swtich is set at UNLOCK, then your scanner assembly is broken and needs to be replaced. You must then send it to Cannon or any Mulitfunction printer repair place.

All I can offer is From Canon:

Problem :
The machine displays an error code of E220. The code only displays when copies are made off the glass. Originals copied using the Document Feeder do not cause the code to occur.

Solution :

Unplug the copier and remove the Copyboard glass. Move the scanner manually and check to see if the Scanner Home Position Sensor Flag is coming into contact with the Inverter Pcb, or any of the wiring. Contact with the flag may be causing a short during Scanner movement when copying from the glass.

Problem :

Error Code E220-0001 occurs after replacing the Lamp, Inverter PCB and the Reader Controller.

Solution :

Check and verify the 24V supply to the Reader Controller from the Main Power Supply (Switching Regulator) is present. It is possible that one of the loads on the DC-Controller can take down the 24 volts. Remove the 24volt loads off the DC-Controller and connect the connectors one by one to locate the short or defective load.
