I am on my second ipod nano of the third generation. I brought my first one in under a warranty after it had the same problem. No matter what song i listen to the volume brings itself all the way to its max. This means i cant listen to it while running or during class. Is it shot???
i've got the EXACT same problem as Sebsub... i've had my new ipod (third generation nano) for 10 days and now whenever i turn it on, the volume goes upto maximum. i can turn it down fine however the moment i stop turning the wheel to the left it goes back up to maximum. i've tried locking the volume and resetting it. but neither worked... anyone know how to fix this?

Re: Ipod Nano 3rd Generation volume problems
ITunes contains a volume leveling program that works with every recording in your library or you can select each one individually by going to the library, selecting get info with the right mouse button, select options, and change the volume with the control you see on the screen and press ok.

most of the memory that is taken up already are files to put your stuff in (movies, music, pics, etc) and the startup files. if you erase the games (which i'm not sure you can) then you will have about 3.7 gb, which is about 10 songs... i've had my ipod for a long time and still havent filled it up with music... and i have a lot of music. trust me, you have plenty of space.

first available in 2 GB and 4 GB versions. The fourth generation Nano
was released on September 9, 2008.
The fourth generation iPod Nano is 3.6" tall and 1.5" wide.
The third generation Nano, released on September 5, 2007, was the first

You should not plug the ipod to pc while it is playing because it is switches from the playing mode to sync and charging mode you can not play and use the ipod while it is connected with the software without ejecting it from itunes. Do a reset by pressing and holding the center and menu buttons at the same time until the screen goes back and apple logo pops up. This should reset your ipod and fix the problem.
I had this problem this morning, ie skipping from song to song, and it is new. I connected it, and reset it, from iTunes on my Mac, as they suggested. Then re-synched - it seems to have fixed it. Hope this helps.
