thanks! i do also notice the aluminum looking heatsink to the right of that piece ... would be ther right side of the same board is loose ... it can be leaned and can see to of the contacts come out of the board, i pressed lightly back into the board ... but is not snug. i will try to get the board out

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

do you mean the small black wire coming out of the flyback... closes to the rear of the tv? how about the plugs.connectors that are into the barad itself ... they all pull off/out and are not sodered in? am working on it now ... beginning to try and get the board out ... and checking first

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

haw do you gain access to the click from the frame that is into the board near the front ... cannot reach, let alone see!? also, how do you get the red wire out of teh flyback ... have removed the rubber sleeve that is over. thanks

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

okay, have it removed. looking on the underside i notice a soder joint not as the others ... appears to be burnt or has been hot enough to melt the soder out. it is a small grey rectangular oiece about 3/8 inches thick ... little over an inch long and stands about 5/8 up from the board. onder that, one of the pins is as described above. numbers on it are ...top row or just starting frm the top R 73 KP next row or under that is ... 0087 HF H 2000VDC ... under that or lowest row is P4 Q or O A21519.

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

right, i see that marked on the board just by it now ... was trying to make sense of the numbers on tthe piece. could this be the issue instead of the flyback thing? and you recommend to replace this cL031 instead of trying to re weld? thanks

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

they didn't show on the page so i sent them an inquiry ...

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

i wondered if so because i had sat a fan behind the tv and it played perfectly for a few hours and then shut off ... then acted like always ... try to start and then off. i noticed the light puff of shoke at that area ... sounds good to me. am online with the parts palce now ... is it difficult to get a soldering iron and repair myself? definitely don't want to ruin it completely! am in a rural area and no repair places near! thanks again

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

someone told me that i needed part number RFR-142 ... do you know what that is? thanks again

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

right, the sire you referred me to just said the same ... number was what tehcs referred to the board! on the joints ... just heat each solder place and it lossens up ... there are several on the flyback ... am in the process of ordering both things from teh site you recommended. thanks

  • hard12please Aug 17, 2008

The board comes out through the rear. the board has plastic perimeter clips that have to be depressed into the plastic frame to slowly work that board out after the wires are unplugged from the board and there are also two clips that extend from the plastic frame through that circuit board that will have to be removed. The large red wire has a plastic ring lock under the rubber boot be careful not to break the ring lock on the large red cable. the small wire from the flybcak just gets pulled out with a pair of pliers, its rough but it will pull out of the flyback.

the board slides out of the front when you lift the rear out. The little plastic ring has to be removed from the large red wire after the boot is slid back. Yes the small black wire just pulls straight of the flyback, then all the wires connectors unplug from the sckets. there are a couple that plug onto pins, but they all unplug and the ribbon cables pull out of their sockets as well.

Thats CL031 which is a critical safety part. Notice the exclamation point in the triangle next to it? That means an eaxct replacement has to be installed thats a .0087uf 2.5% 2KV NPO capacitor. You can get them at the following link, just leave them a email indicating your model number and that you need CL031. They respond quickly. Here is the link.

The flyback is likely what caused the problem with that capacitor getting hot. You can try to resolder, Just understand that is a safety part

Radio shack has solder irons and desoldering irons at very cheap prices. I am not famillaar with part number RFR 142 as most RCA partnumbers are six numbers, they may be refering to that entire board which is the deflection / misc. power PCB

You have a bad Coil on the deflection Board LL037. You can first resolder coil and then using a glue gun glue the coil on top ,If this does not fix the problem then replace coil.
Deflection board is the bottom left hand side board, coil will be on the right hand side of the FBT flyback transfomer.

Why does my d56w20 link 3 times with a humming noise

3 Blinks is just saying that there is a problem , and the fault is often concerning teh deflection circuit. The pcb is located behind the back panel, on the bottom left hand side, the firt thing the technician will do is looking for leaky or bulged capacitors in there, checking horizontal and vertical output and testing the the resistors on the deflection circuit.

Power Problem

There are two different chassis used in that model. If yours has chassis # ITC222 then the part number will be 264102 if it is chassis # ATC221 then it will be part # 258762. The defelection board for the ATC221 is the cheapest. Here are two links for both to order. http://www.partstore.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductSKU=2187237&ProductType=PART http://www.partstore.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductSKU=7747288&ProductType=PART
