The red light turns on every time I turn on the shredder. I've tried everything to fix it. I've emptied the bag, made sure the door is closed, run the machine in reverse, etc. Any suggestions?

My wife put a plastic bag in the basket to catch the shred.
This will block the power switch on the back - bottom -corner of the shredder. The switch fits into slots on the waste receptacle.

Try lubricating the door latch in the door. You can also use a screwdriver to see if you can get the mechanism to move freely.

I was able to pull really hard and open the bin 1-2". I turned the unit on its side over the trash can and some shreds came out. I alternated shoving a sturdy metal rod inside (first an aluminum architectural ruler then the longer handle of a squeeze clamp) to loosen up the shreds and tipping the machine on its side to get some loose shreds out. After doing this enough times I was able to dislodge the dense clumps and remove the drawer. Now that the machine is empty there is a red light on and it does not shred.....UPDATE: turns out somewhere along this rough process (paper was in rock solid clumps) a small piece of the door that presses the "door closed" switch broke off. Jammed a piece of cardboard in there and it shreds again, although it does not automatically turn off when the door is open.

Hi, try to fixed the paper cassette tray and the cover it might sensing empty paper.

it means you have a jam. check below the shredder heads for paper hanging down triggering the jam sensor. to check this, open the front door, remove the waist basket or bag, then look up underneath. Make sure it is turned off and unplugged so there is no chance of an accident.

If you see paper hanging down, remove the paper, and try it.

YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE SENSORS REPLACED

It sounds like bin full flapper / switch isn't working Move the flapper back anfd forth to hear the switch clicking.

Also do the same thing to the front door.

Possible door switch or the bag full plate under the machine jamed ot switch bad. Also All shredders need the wheels oiled with shredder oil now and then...
