26 gallon model 919.167700 160 psi 1.6 hp Bottom of the compressor has a threaded air relief valve that cannot stop the compressed air from escaping. The compressor is new?! I tried using teflon tape around the thread of the air relief valve, but I still can't get the air from leaking. Do you have a solution?

If it's leaking from the center ,try loosening it let air blow out & tigthen .--- if it's leaking from the theads try tigthening it some more without breakage //////// this valve is the same as a metal radiator petcock with pipe threads that are tappered // return the compressor if still under warranty or try pipe dope -- check for crossed threads--buy new petcock from auto parts store .....a street elbow & 4'' of pipe & quarter turn vavle from the home depot ( or similer supply store ) works nicley as a replacement / this way you can reach the valve to drain the water with out laying on the ground.--------------1/4 pipe thread i think .

Compressor relief valve opens 150lbs on my d55141

That is the compressor's holding capacity 150psi. Therefore, the cut-out pressure has been reached. The safety valve opens to relieve the excessive psi. Compressor should come on at 120 psi.

T30 model 242 Safety relief valve pops off at 50-60 lbs pressure. Put on a new one and still the same problem. Don't know what to look for next. Normal cut out is at 150-175. Thanks

From want you are describing sounds like the high pressure valves are leaking in the HP Head. there are 2 safeties on this unit . If the safety that's lifting is between the low and high pressure cylinders it's hp valves leaking. If the tank safety is lifting at 50-60 psi It should be replaced. It is a 200 psi safety.

Senco air compressor pumps up..when it reaches full pressure it shuts off and then something under the electronic box opens and discharges all of the air.

That is the safety relief valve which means it has gone bad or you need to turn back the high pressure setting about 5 t0 10 psi. When this happens again there should be a small pin in the middle of it that has a metal ring through it. When it goes off push on that pin and if the air coming out stops or shuts off then you need to turn back the psi if not the valve needs replaced.

I have a 26 gal 5 hp upright campbell hausfield air compress. it will not buildi up air all of a sudden. it is building some as when i pull the pressure relief some air comes out. Any suggestions.

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. check all your air lines for leaks, check the valve at the bottom of tank, check the line coming form the pump to the tank. You may have to remove it to inspect it. I find this one always is over looked. Thanks for choosing FixYa...John

Air pressure does not go over 25 psi I have taken the whole unit apart and check, relief valve, regulator, check valve. Pressure switch, Piston & Gasket. everything seem good I have taken the pressure...

Does it shut off at 25 psi or just keep running and never build more pressure than that? Also, did this come on gradually or suddenly? Also, was it being used regularly when it happened or had it been sitting for a while?

Compressor shuts off before reaching max pressure

Yes,but if the max is 125 you don't want to increase it above 110 and set off the pressure relief valve.

COMPRESSOR RUNS, FILLS TANK, AND THEN LEAKS OFF ALL THE PRESSURE. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Is the air "leaking" from the pressure relief valve? If so it is either faulty or it is doing what is supposed to do. The pressure relief valve is there in case the pressure switch fails. The tank could blow up if the pressure switch fails, so the pressure relief valve is there as a secondary measure to insure the tank does not receive too much air pressure. Assuming your gauge is operating properly, watch the gauge to see if it reaches the maximum pressure (check your manual to find the maximum PSI) or if it goes over the maximum pressure. If it goes over the maximum pressure then replace the pressure switch. If it the motor stops at the maximum pressure, replace the pressure relief valve.

I have a Husky model Y6010 air compressor.

First remove the valve using probably about a 1/2" wrench but make sure there is no pressure in the tank before you do so. check the cone and seal by loosening the valve by hand and check for debris. If there is no debris then the problem is either the pressure relief valve or weak pressure regulator but may also be a bad piston seal if it is a direct drive unit.
