Top Tray clips on diswasher broken

The clips holding the top tray in place have broken (one by one) over the years. I need to replace all four now, as the top tray cannot support any weight.

Does someone know where I can buy them?

One top tray clip is broken on our Westinghouse 920 Dishwasher. Where can you buy replacements. (which shop?, Bunnings?) Any idea what they cost?

I have the same problem and there is an inherent design flaw. You can normally buyt these at most outlets, however you can buy more than 4 to support the tray, or I have cut a small diameter aluminium tube (1/4" diameter) and threaded it through the tray from the side and into the sliding rails. It is not an ideal solution, but will last a lot longer than the silly grey wheels! Doi two bits ( one at the back and one at the front.) You have to play around a bit to get the drawer to move in and out, but it is much stronger than before. Good luck Charles in Australia

My Neptune MAH3 is leaking from the detergent dispenser.

The detergent dispenser is easily replaced, simply held in place by the four corner screws which fasten the door and door frame to the washing machine.

Unless the dispenser itself is cracked, your leak may actually be occurring from a loose clamp or hose attached to the dispenser. Or perhaps the leak is coming from the hoses, which are connected to the back of the machine in the same corner as the dispenser. The fill valve, to which the hoses are connected, could also be the problem. These valves are made of plastic, and can eventually crack and fail. This valve is also fairly easy to replace.

If it's been awhile since your washing machine hoses were installed, I would highly recommend changing them out if/when you repair other items. Stainless steel hoses are now available, preferable to plain rubber ones, better to handle constant water pressure. Be sure to note a date on the back of your machine with a Sharpie or paint pen the date the hoses, fill valve, or other items were changed. I do this as a reminder for the fill valve, which gets eaten up by our municipal water supply about every four years.

My philips dvdr3510v player is not opening tray its saying blocked how do i solve the problem

This seems to be a manufacturing problem. When the disk is loaded it is centered on a spindle and to make sure that centering succeeds a magnet mounted to a small white rotating plastic piece on the top of the DVD drive. The magnet seems to bee too strong on my machine so the spindle isn't able to disengage when trying to open the tray. The result is blocking. It is of course possible that the electric motor moving the tray and the spindle movement is too weak. Anyhow this is how I solved the problem on my Philips Video/DVS DVDR3510V:
1) Disconnect the device from mains power.
2) Unscrew the eight screws holding the top in place.
3) Unscew four black screws keeping the DVD unit fixed to the main body.
4) Carefully drag the DVD slightly back which allows you to rotate it to point sideways (this allows simpler testing of the mechanical working).
5) Unscew the two blank screws keeping the front half of the top of the DVD unit in place.
6) Using a small screw driver carefully bend the clips to allow the top plate to be removed.
7) Connect the mains power and don't ouch anything inside.
8) After startup try Eject/Load several times to ensure that the DVD unit is mechanically working OK. If the Eject/Load doesnt work with the top off there is no use going further.
9) Disconnect mains power.
10) Use a small felt tipped pen to mark the face of the small metallic (magnet) part in the center of the white movable component fixed to the top.
11) Using a small flat screw driver carefully open the clips holding the two halves of the white component together. Careful! The clips may break easily.
12) Cut small pieces of tape (or use thick drawing paper). The idea is to lift the magnet slightly upwards. We thus use tape or paper as shims. Notice that a hole is needed in the center.
13) When the shims are in place put the magnet back oriented correctly (if you didn't mark it test it against the spindle rotating the disk. The correct orientation is where the magnetic force is strong.
14) Mount the halves back into the hole in the top component and align the clips. Then press the halves together until the clips connect.
15) Put the top component back and clip it into place. No need to screw in the screws yet.
16) Connect mains power, don't touch anything inside.
17) Check that the tray now opens both with a disk and when empty. Check that a DVD is recognized correctly (too little pressure leads to disk loading failure).
18) If the DVD unit now works assemble it and you are done.

The first picture shows the white round plastic part that is modified on the left hand side of picture.
The second picture shows an additional support I glued to the top with super glue because the top is fairly flexible. Initially I thought this was the reason why the spindle got stuck. I think the extra support is unnecessary but i didn't bother with removing it.

I have a Hoover Model #U6430-900, Self-propelled Ultra Wind Tunnel Upright- I am sure the actuator arm- for the self propelled function- has broken. My question is how do I remove the plastic cover on top...

Hi There,

Here's a step by step guide that will explain in detail how to remove the top cover on your Hoover. The repair was written for a different problem then one you're experiencing, but you can follow along step by step to see how you can remove the top cover.

If you haven't already purchased the actuator arm, here's a link for you to the part on Amazon
Hoover Windtunnel Self-Propelled Windtunnel Actuator Arm

Here's the repair guide:
Step 1. Make sure that the vacuum is unplugged. Turn the machine upside down so that the brushes are facing upwards. I find the easiest way to do this is to put the brushes on top of a counter top or work bench with the handle of the vacuum resting on the floor. Remove the four screws that hold the bottom plate in place. Remove the bottom plate, both belts and then the roller brush from the machine:

Step 2. There are 3 screws that hold the top brush cover in place that need to be removed. On the right side the screw is down below the transmission to the right. There's also a screw in the agitator tray, in the middle that needs to be removed. NOTE: This small screw in the agitator tray is only present on some models, you's may or may not have this little screw, but all models will have all other screws circled. I have circled both screws that need to be removed:

The screws on the left side that need to be removed are also circled. One screw holds the upper brush cover on, and the other two screws secure the hose in place. Remove all three screws as well as the transparent hose cover:

Step 3. After all of these screws have been removed, there are two clips that are the last things holding the top brush cover onto the vacuum. Use a flat head screwdriver to push these clips off on both the left and right sides. The right side clip is near the pulley that the flat belt2_bing.gif rides on, and the left side clip is next to the internal hose.

Step 4. Once both of these clips have been pushed so the unhook from the lower agitator housing, remove the top cover.

Once you have removed the top cover, here's a link to a guide that will show you how to replace the actuator arm itself:

I hope that this information helped you fix your vacuum cleaner. If you have any follow up questions, or need clarification on something, please feel free to use the comment box here on the Fixya repair page, and I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.

If this was helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave feedback. This is greatly appreciated by the Fixya community if an answer was helpful.

Thanks again,

When it spins it is all over the place

If this is the top load washer the problem is the drum supports. Insert a 1/2 inch paint scraper between the front panel and the top about one inch from the corner releasing the spring loaded clip holding the front panel. Tilt the front panel forward and remove. Remove the screws holding the clips that hold the top in place. Lift the top and undo the wire harness for the lid switch assembly. Remove the top and locate the four rubber supports at each corner the machine holding the main tub assembly to the corners of the washer cabinet. Replace the supports that are broken and reassemble the washer.

How to place back the freezer trays for E522B refrigerator

Make sure to return the correct tray/bin in the right runners. All three freezer trays have different designs on each side, which means that the top tray must be returned to the top tray and cannot be interchanged with the second tray. What happened in my case is, I was trying to put the 2nd tray to the first tray that's why I had difficulty replacing it back and would not fit.

I can't reatach top( glasses) rack I can't figure out where the clips go into.

The clips attach to the upper tray assembly...you clip the little roller assemblies (all one piece) onto the bottom of the tray...along the lowest part of the tray...when clipped in place...(I'm not sure but there will be an even # on both sides) you then put the tray back into place and it will roll inside or along a silver track...which may have a slot cut out where the rollers drop down into and then the tray is pushed back...into place and the last roller drops into the slot and the tray will extend along with the arm that the rack is sitting in/on.
I hope this helps...any more ??...just ask....good luck...thanks for rating my effort...The Fang.

Plastic clip holder to hold dishwasher tray is broken

If you are handy, contact an appliance parts store that sells retail. You should find them in the yellow pages. Brand and model number will be needed usually on the inside edge of the door.

If you are unsure, Look in Repair and Service link at Fixya.com for a repair service in your area.

Good Luck,

Unlocking Disc Tray?

If you want to remove the entire tray, remove the top of the casing and the the front as well. The front is held on by a screw on top and two smaller screws, one on each side. Then remove this face plate by releasing the clips built into the unit, two on each side, two on top, and two bigger ones on the bottom. Try to just lay the face plate/front cover down beside the unit to avoid the effort of disconnecting the other pieces. Remove the two screws, one on each side, of the dvd laser top cover. Remove the two screws under that, one on each side, they're also accessible without removing the dvd laser top cover at all, but either way all four screws need to be removed. Remove the center screw holding the top of the tray/turntable. Then remove the turntable top, you'll have to pry this up near the dvd laser while sliding it around to get it past the two interlocks(inch wide lip overhanging) built into the tray bottom. This may not be necessary to remove, but it makes it easier to slide the tray out later. Next remove the two screws holding the tray mounting brackets in place, there is one located on each side near the front. You may only have good access to one side and should remove it first to give yourself more room to work on the tighter side. You may even be able to pull the tray out without removing that side's screw and bracket at all. The tray should slide out of the front then, like it does when it opens during normal operation. At least put the top cover to the dvd laser back on, and if you're wanting to reattach the top of the turntable, remember to do that first...before attaching the dvd laser cover. There may be one or more screws somewhere I didn't mention to remove, it's been awhile since I took one apart. And of course, don't look at the dvd laser and don't mess with the two 250v capacitors...they will still be charged and can shock you. They'll look like two black cylinders, side by side, each about the size of a C battery or a little smaller. Most likely you should be fine unless you remove the power supply board and make contact with the soldering points on the underside. Just try not to slip the screw driver and so forth. Hope this helps, it's about all I could remember, so look for other attachments, screws, etc if you get stuck.
