Hi-

Make sure you are using a direct cable, not an adapter( usb to serial or vice versa) if you are using a serial cable, make sure your printer is the only one using the com1 port, this should be free...

check and go to command prompt- click on start then on RUN put in cmd then press enter, on black window type dir >com1 then press enter. it should print if its free. other wise go to device manager, delete com1 or uninstall then reboot computer so that it will reinstall the com1 driver back to computer.

keep me posted

Check if interface at the back of printer is interchangeable to the type of port your computer will support it. Direct USB to USB or direct connection is recommended to avoid future issues.

I have an old serial printer that works fine, I can not connect it to my new computer via a parallel to usb cable convertor on windows 7!

Hi craig931, First try downloading the latest driver of your printer and your usb converter compatible for windows 7. Second Checked your device manager if your printer and usb to parallel driver properly installed, it should be there. If not yet installed try using different usb port one at a time until the cable have been detected. Third if you see already the printer port force to change it to USB001 or Com1, then try to print. regards,

Hi, what your system detecting is that the PR2E still in COM1 or COM2, if you have the driver installer set the port to USB so that the system will detect your printer via USB. Or change the port access from COM1 to virtual USB.

You need to make sure you have selected the correct COM port whin you try to print. Depending on the type of USB to serial converter, the COM port it assigns can change just by moving it to another USB port. Right-click on My Computer and select MANAGE. Select Device Manager from the list. Click on the (+) next to PORTS and double-click on your USB-SERIAL device COM port. Somewhere in the Properties window you should be able to see the assigned COM port (COM1, COM2, etc.). If possible, set the COM port to COM1 or COM2 for greatest compatibility with older software. Then when you print, make sure your printer driver is also set to the same COM port.

Print with usb cable

hi-

when you install the driver, don't connect printer yet to pc. wait for a prompt for you plug in the USB cable so that it will create its own usb vitual printer port, so you mean when you go to printers and faxes, right click on your printer and go to properties then ports, which port has a check mark? it should be usb001 or something then usb virtual printer port.

Try looking here:

http://www.eid.toshiba.com.au/

You need to know if it uses the GDI print system or the optional print board.

Browse the driver section and you should get there.
