Radio flashes (protect)cant get any stations at all

This is an indicator of an output load problem, turn unit off! remove the speaker wires from the back of the stereo, now turn power on and turn the volume down. If the word protect stays off there is a short in the wire or one of the speakers, but! if the word protect comes on " with the speakers and wires dis-connected " it indicates a short in the audio output ic pack in the stereo.

When i shut off the radio lights keep blinking forever, how do u stop them?

the "radio lights" you are talking about, are they like clock numbers ie 3 flashing 0's, if so it means that the clock on the system needs to be set, this info should be in the user manual,

Will not power on, tried reset and hard reset...nothing working

-If you got an electric storm that will fry your chip if it aint hooked up to a surge protector. -If you spilled liquid on this thing then your toast.   -If you stress this thing out on max level the unit's circuitry protection will shut down to keep from overheating.  You then have to wait until the unit cools down before using again. -See if a fuse is blown and replace the fuse -Call Aiwa if this thing is still under warranty and have them deal with it

Y sony direct comparator st s444 es 2 does not hold radio stations. Once power has been turned off for more than a couple hours, memorized radio stations are lost. Thank you

You could try looking for a memory retention capacitor on the circuit board. It will be on the board with coils etc. They sometimes are marked on the board. However they look like squashed electrolytic caps. They have a value of between 0.022 and 0.047UF and a voltage of around 5.5 volts. If you see one like that and it's near an IC then you found the trouble, replacement should stop the loss.

We have this HM3817DT CD radio and somehow the alarm setting was bumped and it goes off regularly and we don't know where to shut it off. The instruction manual says nothing about setting or turning off...

When you press the AL SET/ SLEEP button on the remote or the system, it will flash. If you press it again, it should go away, meaning it is turned off.

'PROTECT' MSG EVERYTIME TRYING TO OPERATE

This appears to be a very common problem here on the board. It means the unit has shut off the outputs because of either a bad speaker or shorted wire, or some failed part in the amplifier. If the trouble continues after you disconnect the speakers, the unit will require service to diagnose and replace the failed part(s).

I've never worked on this model, but in many brands the amplifier integrated circuit is a common failure. They are often not properly mounted for efficient cooling and burn themselves out. Another typical failure is some power supply part that is under-rated and just goes bad, and this is showing up as the protect failure.

Without a diagram and no direct experience, I can't suggest any specific action you could take, other than checking with a local shop for a repair estimate. (You might try contacting JVC on their website or by phone to see if they have any service bulletins. If something becomes a chronic issue, the manufacturer sometimes extends warranty service to cover the repair. Never hurts to ask!)

Radio does not work

If the unit is only a few months old, returnit for warranty repair or exchange. A power fail should not effect it. Try unplugging it for a few hours to force a system reset. If that fails to resolve the problem, have it serviced under warranty.

The system goes into DEMO MODE. HOLD the -display / -demo button in that's next to the volume and it should go into demo mode. HOLD AGAIN and it should say demo off.

Unit turns on, then clicks off with a "protect" message

You have a bad speaker on this unit or the audio output circuit is in need of repair. Try to disconnect all of the speakers and then turn on the unit. If it still stays in protect, you will need to have this unit serviced, unless you understand how these solid state circuits work. If the unit does come on without the speakers, turn off the unit and add one speaker at a time until the unit will not turn on. Disconnect that speaker and have it checked out or have the wiring checked out. Good Luck
