I have a Sony cybershot DSCT1. The view through the view finder has become fuzzy and distorted and the camera is failing to take a picture. Any ideas please?

Very useful - thanks. Even sony shop said that I should just replace camera as sensor had gone. Didn't mention the CCD imager problem. Camera now on way for repair!

Pictures fuzzy when you look through the viewer.

The viewfinder and the picture lens are totally separate. If it looks fuzzy, and then comes out fuzzy, the capture screen inside needs cleaned. The main lens and viewfinder lenses should be cleaned too.
Get estimates before you say yes to the work. It might be cheaper to buy another camera, unless you can do the work yourself.

Distorted/damaged pictures

Please check the image size (pixels x pixels) setting or the resolution (MP). Seems like the camera is shooting in low resolution. Have you used this memory card on a mobile phone or another camera? Format the memory card and try again.

All pictures taken are just Blackness

is there a view finder on this camera? often when there is a screen and a viewfinder there is a button to toggle between them, my sony camera has such a button although it is not a cybershot. i imagine the button says "dis" or "LCD" and just needs to be toggled. if the display were bad you would not be able to view pictures on it. display works must be configuration issue.

Erratic view from display , takes picture that way , almost like it has a bad tuner

Let me guess...Sony Cybershot? If you're still able to view pictures clearly but when taking pictures the display looks distorted or black, it's most likely caused by the CCD sensor chip. By the way, even if it's not a Sony it can still be the same problem.
