My orbicam has stopped working. I can bring the orbicam menue up when I click the icon. But when I try to click to camera off the icon, it flashes up then dissappears in a split second. Also, there is no green light coming on the camera. I have checked the drivers are installed correctly - which they are. Is there something I am missing???
It seems to be an inherrent fault with this model, this sometimes works though.
swivel the camera around to face the rear of the notebook (making sure you turn it the right way) and turn it back again, now try to run the camera again, keep clicking the icon to start the cam and eventually it comes on.

Q: Camera Usage Instructions A: For use with systems including an Acer Orbicam, CrystalEye, or other factory installed camera. Taking still pictures
Double click the Orbicam Icon to start the program, which will open the main application screen.
Set the configuration choices by clicking on the "gears" icon, which should open an additional window that slides out. Clickthe tabs and select the options for the desired settings. By default, still pictures will be sent to the "Pictures" folder.
Set the resolution for still pictures by pressing the arrow under the main display. A drop down menu should appear with the available resolutions. Larger resolutions will result in larger file sizes.
To take a picture, align the subject in front of the camera so that the display appears in the window as desired. Click Take Photo.
The pictures should appear along the bottom of the application window if the Gallery view is enabled.

Might be hardware problem. So better send it to service center. Or you can try to take out the camera, remove the camera cable and plug it in back. I think this model got design issue for the camera.

Have your computer search for the program "Acer OrbiCam" and click on it when you find it. That should bring up a small window controlling the orbicam and a larger window displaying the picture being captured by the camera.
Also, your Acer can maintain multiple concurrent user sessions. You may be using the computer in one session and there may be another user session open at the same time, with the camera in use in that other session. Try shutting down and restarting the computer.
Sounds like a driver went astray.

Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall
the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the
camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud
** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
If that does not work then do this:
Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
sounds like youre using vista where live messenger starts up auto and tries to log you on whether you use it or not .if so let it run its course then right click on the icon and disable then reboot
