I have a Playstation 2. I was about to play a game (Spyro: A Hero's Tail) and licked on 'load game' when the screen came up with a message saying, 'Load failed! Data could not be loaded correctly. Check memory card (8MB) (for Playstation 2) in MEMORY CARD slot 1 and please try again.' I turned the console off and tried again but the message came up again. I checked that the memory card was in properly, and it was. However, the message keeps on coming up when I try to get to my saved game.

My Spyro the Dragon game will not play. It gets to the Playstation logo and freezes. I just had it resurfaced so it's not scratched. It is a Playstation 2 and plays all other games.

The best thing I could offer as advice is to cover the bottom of the disc with toothpaste, the toothpaste acts as a resurfacing agent and helps get rid of scratches, obviously clean the toothpaste off throughly before inserting the disc into the Playstation 2 disc tray.

I had the same problem.....new guitar hero game would not read the disk.....I unplugged it....cleaned the laser with a q-tip and windex....it now works fine.

Try starting the game without the memory card. If it starts up then you know that you have a bad memory card.
