SOURCE: agitator making clicking noise when washing clothes; clothes wrapping around agitator

Hi,
If this a whirlpool brand washer, there are sone parts bad in the agitator it's self. These parts are called dogs and they make the agitator rachet so that the top half only goes one direction. Does this sound like what you are experiencing? If so, let me know and I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

SOURCE: Simpson Esprit 650 6.5kg Washing

I have just had the same problem occur with my washer.
I found that the hot would work but the cold would not.
The fault is the cold water valve.
This is the part that the hose screws to at the back of the machine.
To have a look at it unscrew the top of the controls at the back and you will
find the valve.
Follow this link for the part.

SOURCE: Simpson esprit 550.The agitator is not moving in

Had the same problem with mine, could be a number of things but in my case it was a relatively simple fix - but you'll need to buy a part.

Open the lid and look inside, the bit sticking up in the middle of the machine is called the agitator. Remove all the fabric softner and lint filter from it and you'll see one very small bolt at the base.

I concocted a number of ratches stuck together to reach it but once undone you can pull the enitre agitator up an remove it.

The agitator is driven by metal bolt with teeth at the bottom of the tub, however the agitator itself is made entirley of plastic, therefore (prob due to age) the metal teeth had eaten away the inside of the agitator and so it was just spinning inside its hole!

eplace the agitator and problem solved.

SOURCE: Simpson Esprit 650 - Won't agitate

Our machine , same model, was doing the same. Had a repairman cone out & it was the Motor Control unit, seems to be a fairly common problem. But now its fixed & working well.

SOURCE: Simpson Esprit 750 washing machine timer?

Hi! My Simpson Esprit 750 washing machine won't click over to the next stage in the cycle. All of the stages work if you turn the dial manually so I am wondering if it may be the timer that needs replacing? I can't hear it in operation. Thanks.

Hi, we have Simpson top loading washing machine model number Esprit 550, the drum is not rotating and the spinning plastic rod in the centre of the drum is not spinning/rotating either

that is a direct drive

is the agitator (plastic rod )loose or sloppy
if you look down the inside of the agitator
do you see a nut at the base holding the agitator tight

if the timer is working
and water can pump in and out
that is good

bad
if you cant hear the motor click in
it will need to have the inspection cover taken off
for service or part replacement

Simpson esprit 550 agitator & spin not working properly.

Open the lid during the wash cycle and observe the agitation, you need to see exactly whats happening, If its corkscrewing instead of agitating it will wind the clothes as you described. Agitation is usually back and forth, or up and down etc, not just turning constantly in the same direction.

Simpson esprit 450 Agitator only turns one way causing load to wrap around agitator. I've removed agitator and nothing is caught up. Wondering?

Inside the agitator there may be a circular section that has 4 small tabs with small teeth on them, if this has these, inspect each tab to see if the teeth are wore, ifr so replace the teeth. They are called "dogs"
