My device manager always show missing drivers ethernet controller and base system device,i can not reach it

A base system device is any hardware device pre-installed on your laptop, such as a CD-rom drive, a USB port, an Ethernet port, video card, etc. These devices all require pre-installed drivers that were supplied by Dell with the factory setup. The most common problem is to have one of these driver files corrupted or deleted by accident. To solve a base system device driver problem, you have to go into Windows Device Manager (Look in Control Panel), and look for devices listed with yellow question marks or other indications that they have a missing driver. You either then go to the Dell support site for your laptop model, or the driver disk you may have gotten with your laptop, and reinstall the needed driver.

Drivers are available at the manufacturer's website. (If your computer isn't a Dell Dimension 2400, just visit the site for your make and model. There's always a link somewhere for support and downloads. Some companies just make it harder to find than others.)

If you have reinstalled windows in your computer, most likely some of the device drivers have not yet been recognized by the Operating System it is because it requires a driver, or the software that you need to install in order for that particular device to function... in your case the ethernet controller. To check if there are missing drivers you need to install, go to DEVICE MANAGER. The Faster way to go there is...

on the keyboard, press ALT+Windows key. It will then open the RUN command box. Type devmgmt.msc then hit ENTER. Device Manager will then show-up. Check and see if there "bangs" in there like ?, !, or a red X. If there is/are question mark/s, that mean driver is missing. If it shows an exclamation, that means driver was not properly installed or there is a conflict with the driver. If you see a red X, that means driver is disabled. Those are the things you have to check inside Device Manager.

Here are some solutions for that...

1. ? = go to your computer manufacturer's website and download the driver/s from there if driver cd is not available. Then after downloading the driver, install it.
e.g. DELL - http://support.dell.com

2. ! - uninstall driver and reinstall it. To uninstall the driver, just click on that device inside Device Manager then hit DEL on the keyboard

3. red X - right click on that device then left click ENABLE

if you can download driver easy https://drivereasy.en.softonic.com/download or put on a device like usb stick and put on the aspire it will find the missing drivers and you just down load and install them, don't use automatic as you will need to pay for this to be activated but to load them yours self its free. been using it for years now my self.

PCI Modem is your dial up modem, Ethernet Controller is your Network Card, and SM Bus Controller is your Motherboard Chipset drivers. There missing because your Operating System has Either Corrupt Drivers or they were never installed in the first place. Sounds like a fresh installation was done and nobody bothered to look in the device manager to see if any hardware drivers were missing.

Go to "Device Manager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed next to any devices. To access the "Device Manager" go to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column.
If there is an alert, double click on that device to determine the problem, i.e.… device not configured, cannot start this device, etc…
It sounds like all your software drivers got blown away or can’t load. If that’s the case, try running diagnostics. Press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on. This will initiate a diagnostic routine to check your hardware.

right click on the yello sign and right click, select update driver. if it does not solves your problem then go to the website of your laptop manufacturer and download the drivers for your model
