Question about Sony DCR-HC26 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

SONY DCR 905E handycam

My computer is not able to recognise my handycam which is connected through usb cable. I can download pictures from handycam to computer using picture package software given by sony but can't get DVD video files transferred to my hardwire/computer dvd drive to copy as the computer is not recognising the handycam at all. when i open my computer on windowsxp the handycam doesn't show up at all!

    camcorder is connected to power unit and battery is also fully charged.

Check your battery is fully charge then reset it to factory setting..

Capture video not responding - driver issue


Hi All,

This problem is sorted out, upon checking the handycam the USB streaming was not enabled, the same was enabled and my computer could recognise the device.

I think you are using Windows Vista and facing problem to connect Sony DCR-HC53
Download Update for Picture Motion Browser software at Sony Support.
You need iLINK cable to transfer movie data in to computer. iLINK cable is shown in below picture.
You can have more info HERE about iLINK connectivity if you are running Windows XP in your laptop.

Connecting to computer


You should have got a sofware disc with the handycam when you bought it.if you load the disc it should accept the video on usb.if you dont have the disc try sonys website for software,.
