Dear sir,
My printer Brother MFC-215 does not work and it displays 'Unable to initilize, see troubleshooting and routine maintenance in user manual.' None of the functions (copy,fax,scan,photo capture) are operational and it displays this message. I have lost the manual for this printer and please send it to me and i request kind assistance for this problem.

First things first:
press menu then start bk-copy then fourtimes arrow-up button. machine will display an error code no. plz post AS A NEW POST again.
BTW: The update has nothing to do with the stopping of the machine!

You have a major error, probally head stuffed error 41, to find out your error press menu starte and up 4 times, this may show error if not then input 82 set, error will display.

Access the internal maintenance mode by pressing the Menu/Set button, then press * 2 8 6 4 within 2 seconds. This should put you in the maintenance mode menu. Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.
This will reset the purge count value. Then the printer will restart,
try this step by step.without missing any thing.

Open the top cover and hold the interlock switch on the top right hand corner. Power up and wait for the carriage to come to the center. Shine a flashlight all the way to the right and left and pull out the crumpled paper. You should be able to print again..
