This is a sad way for computer manufacturers to get you to buy another monitor when the cord is bad. Some monitors have detachable cords that you can purchase at many big box stores for a reasonable price.

The short answer is no - the average person cannot repair this themselves UNLESS you have a familiarization of electronics and know what to buy and repair on the back of the monitors.

This takes a lot of time out of your day to replace a monitor cord thats permanently fixed to the back of the montior.

My long term solution to you is go and purchase yourself a flat panel monitor which has dropped in price, and make sure you have a detachable cord on that model so you can easily replace it in the future should it becomed damaged.

My ViewSonic 2230wm made a loud noise as it flicked once and shut off forever.

Getting the parts needed and repairing this monitor would probably not be cost effective. If nothing happens when you try to turn it on (i.e. no lights or LEDs come on) then it probably is the power suppley circuitry that is failing. If you are technically capable, you could remove the covers and look for a blown capacitor (the loud bang sounds like a capacitor).

The monitor makes a clicking sound but does not go on.

This monitor is faulty, the costs of LCD monitors are low and the cost of repairing your monitor may not be worth the trouble.

Pc have grey screen

check all connections pull out the connection between the monitor and the computer and see if any pins are bent of broken. try the lead to another monitor or your tv if you have a modern one. if you have the same problem then the computers output is damage and check out an authurised computer repairer. If the pictures ok then you need to think about another monitor. You need to isolate the problem but it does sound as if the monitors broken and may not be worth being repaired.

Sounds like a power problem on Power supply board. It could possibly be damage or overheating. It will have to be replaced or fixed by someone good with LCD's
This is something i wouldn't try to repair by myself.
Hope this helps a little bit. Good luck

INPUT2: HD15 keeps coming up on my screen. i cant get through it. do i need to buy new input2: HD15 cable? the monitor is sony make and the hardrive is fujitsu siemens computer make

more information is needed for this question to be answered properly
im going to guss that this is your conection cable from video card to your monitor
try disconecting and reconecting the cable making shur that the cable is firmly conected at both ends
its posible that part of the tower case is preventing the full insertion of the cable into the socket
cut away 1/8 inch of the ruber shielding around the pc side of the cable so that it can fully be inserted into the conection
check that the pins on the male conection arn't bent or broken off

also run your closed hand down the cable itself checking for cracks cuts or breaks in the cable

if any problem is seen replace the cable if any pins are broken off check the femal reciver for the broken of part of the pin so as to not damage anothere cord
good luck

absoloutly not!!!!! if the pin has broken in the external power cord and not inside the PC itself then all you have to do is replace the PSU ( power supply unit ) and the lead, this should cost you no more than £35 and its easy to replace yourself

You will need to call the support staff at viewsonic. Be persistent, they WILL have to do some digging and that can affect thier allowable talk time as call center agents are always under the gun. Also be persistent bnecause alot of agents can be lasy and not want/feel like doing a bit of digging.

I had the same problem same model. The image was off center to the right and it couldn't be fixed by the auto-image adjust or the manual adjust.

My solution was really simple, I moved a video player (RealPlayer) onto the monitor and maximized the screen, then pressed auto-adjust once. It worked.

I have a 19' view sonic monitor, when i plug it in, the monitor won't turn on, the light on the power button just blinks on and off in random blinks, can anyone help?

If the power button is blinking after disconnecting it from your computer, and with only the power cord plugged in. Your monitor has gone bad and need to repaired or replaced .Depending upon the manufacturer warranty you have

Thanks
