There is a model GA-8SIMLNF - it seems to be specific to some models of Packard Bell computers. It is similar to GA-8SIML which seems to take a maximum of 2Gb DDR266 or better

There is no motherboard with this model number. Can you recheck this by looking on the board itself. Its right in the middle of the board.

In general though, you can usually put 4GBs of Ram in the G8 series but only Vista and later Linux versions will actually report above 3GBs.

Please reply using the comment box below. Thanks.

My GA 8SIMLNF motherboard keeps shutting down the PS. I'm convinced heat is NOT the issue. I tried a new good PS from my other PC and exactly the same problem, so it's not voltages either. I'm convinced...

This definately sounds like a bad motherboard. I had a bad psu that was shutting down my system one time. I took it back and got a refund and got another one. Installed and never had the problem again. you said you already checked the psu so yeah thats what it sounds like.

Can Gigabyte GA-8I945PLGE-RH supports 4gb ram?

Sorry, but at the moment you can't do that. This is because the BIOS is programmed to manage only 2GB memory. I searched for BIOS upgrade to resolve the memory issue but with no luck. At the moment your motherboard supports only 2 GB RAM.

I have a Gigabyte-GA-8SIMLNF motherboard and recently bought 2gb (2*1gb)of pc2100 DDR and am getting the no ram beep,it is labeled ecc ramwill this not work?

Hi,
Your motherboard does not support ECC RAM. You'll have to buy a PC2100 nonECC DDR RAM. Also, it supports a maximum of 2 GB RAM, i.e; 2 RAMs each of 1GB in each slot.

Hope this answers your query. Thanks.

The following power supply unit (PSU) should work just right, however, it will not fit in a company branded case such as HP, Compaq, Gateway, Dell, etc. sine they all use proprietary parts and cases:
