Dude, i agree with all the people that say take it apart and just unhook it... but i just shoved a push pin in between the button and the side of the monitor to hold pressure on it and it seems to work fine... every now and then i have to adjust the pin but im too lazy to take it apart and stuff

I opened the monitor then I removed the entire electronic panel where the menu buttons etc were hooked up to (unhooked it completely). Since my colors and brightness are fine the way they are, I figured there was no use for this panel so I unhooked it and all is back to normal again. Been using it for 30mins or so and still have not had the menu pop on or blank screen.

Gateway FPD1976W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor. The "TOUR" menu and Adjustment menus keep flashing on and off, and do not respond when you press the side button to shut them off

davea47, Your monitor's internal "switchmode-power-supply" is probably having a problem. You may need to do some electrolytic filter capacitor replacement!!! Problem not new one!! You or qualified lcd monitor technician will need to open unit for inspection/evaluation of power supply board. Do some reading in the fixya profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" (me) and follow links you find there. After investigating your unit let us tech's here at fixya know what you will do to repair unit. 12fixlouie

The volume menu on my hp w2207 monitor keeps popping up and the volume on that menu auto-decreases down to 0. This does not bother me because the volume still works fin, since i dont use the monitor to...

Sounds like one of the buttons on the monitor is sticking physically. Try:
  • checking the buttons for dirt that might be holding it in
  • cleaning the buttons with a soft brush

If you have never installed the EZTune software then try this:

unplug the monitor power at the back.
Wait 1 minute.
Hold down the power button and plug back in the power at the back.
Keep the power button pressed for 15 seconds.

Gateway 19 inch fpd1976w problem

Power supply will be the first place to look, look for bad caps (bulging tops or bottom seals). Check it out and post back what you find so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due tobad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
The high pitch you are hearing can be from the bad lamp soldering connection, it is arcing.

Welcome Screen Blinking Gateway Monitor

I would suggest that you re-install the disc. that comes with the screen.

If that doesn't work, check to see that your video card is working correctly.

Resolution problems following a power lock.

Turn on the on screen menu by pushing the number (1) button. Go down the menu to the memory recall function and Push the number (2) button to reset all the controls to factory settings. This should return you monitor to it normal function. If this does not solve your problem, you can call Envision customer support at this telephone number. 1-888-838-6388. They should be able to help you solve the problem. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

New 19" flat screen monitor only shows analog on the screen

finwiz,
When you on your computer, does any thing appear on the screen, some text display/logo etc.?
If yes then:
  • After making power on your computer start pressing F8 till boot option menu appears.
  • Then select safe mode and if it works, then goto device manager and re-install driver for your display.
If no then:
  • Check out the connection from monitor to computer and try. If still no luck then post comment whats you did and what was the result.

Thanks

Display appearing stretched

the original image size was probably recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio...meaning your widescreen is a 16:9 ratio size screen and is stretching it outwards to fill the whole screen. If you want the image to look normal.. ie. not short and fat people.... you need to change the picture size in the settings from widescreen 16:9 to normal 4:3 tv in the settings menu most likely...Also most remotes will/should have a button for that.
