I want to set up another computer in my house. It has a dlink wireless connection but we cant figure out how to get to a spot where i can enter the code from my 2wire router downstairs. I cant find my install cd from sbc. Can you tell me what we need to do?
Try to access your 2 wire modem ,if the model is 1000sw or hw type this in your browser 172.16.0.1for other model type in this ip add. 192.168.1.254 then click the wireless settings make sure that ss id broadcast is enable and everything is in deffault mode now try to configure your wireless connection if it ask for security key type in the 10 digit number enclosed in a bracket underneath the barcode and you should be connected if your'e still unable to connect try to disable firewalls, optimize the browser if it still doesnt work try accessing your modem again go to wireless settings change the channel to 10 and power setting to 10 :)

Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on yourcomputer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL - http://192.168.0.1 The default login = admin The default PW = passwordYou can now change the default admin password and configurethe wireless settings. Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption. Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer. If your cable modem was operative ...here's an easy procedure:
1. Turn off all network routers, modem, computers.. 2. Turn on the power to the DLink router. let it cycle up. 3. Connect your ethernet from the Dlink to the cable modem and then turn the power on to the cable modem and let it cycle up. ..this will "fool" the cable modem into finding your dlink as the "computer" ..since the cable modem is set up for only one computer, if the dlink is the "computer" that it locks in, then go ahead and turn on all other computers and etc...you should be able to get online wirelessly.. Follow the order of events above and it should be cool.
I was using SBC Global while in California. I moved to Oregon and am currently using Comcast. The problem was that my anti virus was part of my SBC Global package. I was able to contact SBC Global where they informed me that they use Symantac which uses Norton anti virus. I was able to contact and download Norton uninstall tool to uninstall the anti virus. I also uninstalled the SBC Global software (AT&T Yahoo) and that enabled me to install new anti virus software.
visible & unavailable means that the wireless security settings are not the same on the recently formatted computer, as on the rest of the network.
Open the wireless configuration for any computer that can connect to the network and copy the security settings (wep or higher) to the unconnecting pc
connect to the router by cable from the non-connecting pc, use the web interface at http://192.168.0.1 to read the security settings, and copy the settings to the unconnecting pc
When I purchased the same router on Amazon I did my best to set it up on my own, but you need the correct IP information you can only get from your customer support at AT&T. I'm using this router with an old Airport card in an 2003 iBook and a 2007 iMac (built in Airport express card). The set-up was all done wirelessly, with bellsouth (AT&T) customer service instructing me over the phone, the process took about 15 minutes.
My suggestion is to call AT&T and speak with someone who knows what their doing, and they do use the SBC global page to set up the unit, starting with http://192.168.1.254/ for the system summary, from there you can set up your password etc...
