Acer orbicam. help!

JUST GO TO CONTROL PENEL AND OPEN (ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS) THEN SELECT ORBICAM AND UNINSTALL IT.

DONT FORGET TO VOTE

First uninstall cam driver from add remove program or device manager.

Then install again.

If you havent cam driver then downlao0d from below link and install.

If you uninstalled via device manager:-

Unplug Orbicam

Right Click My Computer >> Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager

Plug in Orbicam

Click the top one in the list (Your Computer name)

Click Scan for hardware changes (small icon at top of device manager next to help button

Windows redetects any new hardware , hopefully it should find the camera , thenn you are prompted for device drivers :- Select automatically and see if it finds it

If not , download the drivers you mentioned above , then specify where the drivers are in the hardware wizard and it should reinstall everything then orbicam should work again

Been there. You need the driver in the Acer Site. Note !! you need the Acer Orbicam WHQL Driver as well as the Acer Orbicam Utility. The Orbicam webcam is a USB device. Pls follow this steps in sequence.
1. Install ChipSet/Lan Support.
2. Install Acer Orbicam WHQL Driver
3. Install Acer Orbicam Utility.

Hi if you are using WinXP install SP2 so that your Cam is recognized and then install the corresponding driver for the Cam .

you have chosen the wrong driver, go to the link below and choose orbicam (logitech) not the Bison one

Please check in device manager, is it there ?
it's supposed to be under imaging device.

If it isnot there, it's mean it's hardware, it can be orbicam cable or orbicam itself is bad.
In this case, try to reseat the orbicam cable, it's beside power button, you need to open the power cover (power cover is long cover where the power button reside), you just need to remove 2 scews on power cover, it's in lcd hinges. there are 2 cable beside power button, the camera cable is the cable that come from lcd, not from uppercase.

if your orbicam is in the device manager, try to re-install orbicam software. if you don't have orbicam software, you can download it from www.acerpanam.com.

you should be able to get the drivers and application from acer.

select notebook, aspire 5100, and scroll down to acer orbicam

you will need to go into the control panel, system, device manager, and check under imaging for acer orbicam, double click it and it should tell you the manufacturer (bison, logitech, suyin)

grab the appropriate driver and camera applications

remove the installed orbicam application via add/remove programs and reboot if necessary prior to installing the new drivers and application.

if this doesn't fix the issue, please post a follwup and i will see what i can find out.

There are two types of driver for the orbicam, Bison and Logitech, so ensure you have the correct one installed, especially if you are running Vista as it's a different driver again, and it's installed a seperate peice of hardware although it's built into the notebook. There are no listing for 5600 drivers so try 5610 they should be the same http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/tm_5610.html
