This looks to be in the category of being a desktop so my answer would be that the video card has gone bad. I would either take the computer to a qualified repair person or you can troubleshoot this yourself by buying a new video card and putting it into your computer and testing it.

If you are thinking of doing it yourself you should look at this tutorial http://www.heatonresearch.com/articles/25/page2.html

Make sure your have the plugs in the right place. There will be 2 coming from your monitor. One in ac wall outlet and one 15 pin male that goes into the back of your computer into the video. If your using the on board video or even a video card it may be that it's bad. Are you sure the monitor works.
If you have some spare memory sticks try changing the memory first. No video is usually first sign of bad memory. Video cards are second.
Cpu running is a good thing. Narrows down pretty much to memory, monitor or bad video card.

Has this been happening on a regular basis? When did this start? If you have a separate video card are you capable of disconnecting it from the motherboard and attaching the monitor to the built in video?

Also as strange as this seems, I have seen some instances of a blank screen where motherboard ram not seated properly can lead to a no post situation.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Getting message error -40 cant connect to itunes on my ipod 2g a1288

1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the CPU's USB port. Turn on your CPU's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.

2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)

3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.

4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.

5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.

6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.

7. Restore ipod using itunes

Blank screen, cant hear anything on the ear piece!

replace the phone, that is symptomatic of a phone that has a compression crack, (sat down it was in the pocket, shut too tight, etc) There is no repair, but if you have the insurance it is covered as damage.

BLANK MONITOR

the signal stage of your monitor is likely to have a problem, if the cpu is working fine then troubleshoot the signal stage of your monitor or visit a local technician

Monitor Turns off

Have you turned off the hibernation?, that would be your first priority. Check the settings again to make certain in the Power configuation has been set to never for all settings for both power abd battery for the time being use them and then try again?
