Question about Panasonic PT-47WX49 47" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Panasonic ICs Hi there! I saw that many are having the same issue as me with their panasonic projection tvs! I had found the site that you recommended and saw that they also sell convergence resistors. Is it necessary to replace those when replacing the ICs? Thanks, Renee

On your model its usually will not blow the resistors unless the set has shutdown with 3 blink error. But if your set is still working except with bad convergence you should be ok with just getting new STK392-110 ICs , but change both convergence ICs.

Hi,
Please replace convergence ICs in tv, there are two big black ICs that has number STK392-110 mounted with big aluminum heat sink, replacement these ICs will solve your tv problem. Also check big resistor nearby these convergence ICs and replace if found burn mark or color faded.
On circuit board, IC location number is IC7001 and IC7002
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Can someone help Panasonic tv will not turn on power light 3 blinks and a pause (pt-53wx42-53

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. 3 blinks issue means failed convergence (STK) ICs which needs to be replaced. To do this yourself you should require some basic knowledge about soldering-re-soldering components. To start with you’ll have to open the back of the unit and then replace the ICs (STK ICs) which are located behind the black heat sink and also check the resistors as if they are short the ICs might blow again after sometime. There are repair kits available which includes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself, you can buy and repair it yourself. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

I have a panasonic PT-47wxc43 projection tv. I have green and purple halos coming up from the bottom. The screen has purple and green double images which are worse from the bottom up.

Hi,
This problem is due to convergence output ICs failure and both chips will be replaced to fix the issue.
There are two big black ICs installed with aluminum heat sink on deflection board, these are convergence output ICs and will be replaced to correct the problem, it is common problem of rear projection tv.
Below image of deflection shows ICs (marked in red) that are need to be replaced.
IC number is STK392-110 and available with Part Store for $32 each.
Click above link to see an image of IC.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can replace parts in tv circuit board then can replace these parts yourself or ask local tech to help you.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Panasonic PT 47WX53G does not turn on

If the indicator blinks three times its the error for the convergence ICs and resistors. You can get the right repair kit for your model at the following link which contains the Two ICs the 6 feed resistors and detailed step by step instructions with pictures.

What is the Best Brand HDTV?

Without question, Panasonic has made the most reliable TVs over the last 20 years. Having said that though, I do not generally recommend plasma TVs which are the only large TVs that Panasonic makes. I prefer LCD flat panel TVs as they do not have issues with phosphur burn, are much lighter, and more energy efficient.

Replacing STK Modules in a Panasonic Rear Projection HDTV

Hi there.

If you look up the datasheets for the 392 series, you'd find more differences than power and voltage ratings... Using a similar IC (even if it is the same series) may make it difficult, if not impossible, to converge. It's recommended to change the 2 ICs as a matched pair. Since one already is failing or failed, the other probably isn't too far away.

The resistors mentioned are to bias each output stage for proper deflection and must be within tolerance. They're precision blue flameproofs, so if anything really heated up from a bad IC you'd easily catch any browning / burning. Red is IC7001, blue IC7002, and green is split between the two ICs.

Tha advantage getting a factory supplied or authorized distributor part is you know the LOT NUMBER has been approved by the manufacturer. Generics or unusually cheap originals are often rejects from the manufacturer as being out of tolerance.

The originals are only $29 each directly from Panasonic. Why go through all the effort tearing the thing apart twice to save $30?

Good luck, Mark

Setting Color on TV

Hi Amber3,

I would recommend reading the information available on Panasonic's website. There are links for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) which may be helpful.

The manufacturer's website lists in their FAQ the Panasonic plasma TVs include an enhancement feature for blue and green colors, and instructs how to turn the feature off if needed. Visit http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vSupportFAQDetails?idval=UCM_PRD_CNT_001993&pagetitle=FAQs+for+Plasma+TVs&contentType=FAQ#tv17 to see what Panasonic recommends.

Thank you,

Only use the same part number when replacing convergence amps, or you will need to replace all of the power resistors with recommended values for the convergence amps subsituted.
