My monitor has been working fine, but the other day when I went to "wake my computer from sleep mode" it wouldn't come on. The power source is good, and the monitor clearly has power but the green light doesn't come on. If you push the power button it just stays orange. I am not sure what is wrong with it...please help!
Emily, First thing I would check is to make sure your computer is putting out a video signal by plugging it into another monitor. If the second monitor works then there is probably an issue with the video controller in the monitor and will require a repair by a qualified tech.

yes, all monitors work directly with the cpu, the cpu sends message to the monitor, so if the system is in sleep mode, automatically the monitor stops work excepts the cpu comes up again then the monitor wakes, in a nutshell, a monitor is connected to power while in sleep mode but has no signal to function
Pls check the power management properties in device manager to check if the option to wake the computer from sleep for the keyboard and mouse are enabled.
You may also try to change the power plan or create a new power plan and check if you are able to wake the computer from sleep.
If this problem started a few days back, then you may try to do a system restore.
If only the monitor is going to sleep, then it could be a problem with the connection from the monitor to the computer or with the cable.
If the computer goes to sleep and if you are not able to wake it from sleep then check the sleep mode settings and also the power management settings for the keyboard and mouse.
You may also do a system restore if you are not able to wake the computer from sleep.
Have you tried getting a second monitor ? then using it to get to the desktop and go to power options and set your monitor to never turn off? after that is done try your monitor again and see if that works.
SleepSleep is a mode that the computer enters after being inactive for a set amount of time. Commonly, this mode will turn off a device or set it into a stand-by
No data is lost when computer components enter a low-power mode, ... keyboard would get the computer out of this mode. Also see: Power Definitions, Sleep
This should wake your computer, Good Luck/Please dont for get to Vote.Thank you.
