Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

White screen and No recognition to my computer

While listening to music on my creative zen player today; the screen suddenly went blank (white) and no more sound or play! What the heck happened and is there a fix for this? I've only had this play since April and Dell (whom I purchased fron) won't replace it!!!!!!

While listening to my Creative Zen X-fi player the screen went white but the music will still play and I am able to use the buttons; I'm just afraid to get out of the music section because I can't see where I'm going. I've only had this for a little over a month. Is this fixable? Thank you, Jennifer

It sounds like either an LCD screen failure or a motherboard failure. Have you tried the reset button yet? What happens? Does it reset?

Most likely the video chip inside has gone bad. Best bet would be to contact Creative via their support number. I wish you the best of luck.

My Zen plays music but has a blank screen?


This is what you call the WSOD or the White Screen Of Doom. Is it still under warranty? If yes, go and have it returned or RMAd. Or you can try to download the Recovery Tool found here

Screen is white but music still plays


I have the same problem .. But i found a trick ...When you have a blank screen.
1 you must listen music else press play until you listen it
2. flip the switch on the side to lock position
3. press on buttom the next tune 1-2 seconds
4. you will have a black screen ( you listen the music again)
5. flip the switch on the side to normal position.
6 the screen appear ok now..

7. else repeat ( most time once is ok but sometimes 2 or 3 times)

1 Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.

2. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
It will display the following options:
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.

Zen frozen on one screen even after I've restarted it.


hard drive sounds bad. has it been dropped?
try to do a cleanup
  1. Detach the Zen player from your PC , and ensure that the Zen Sleek is turned off.
2. Connect the power supply to the player.
3. Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the Reset hole
underneath your player, beside the data/power connector. Keep on holding the
Play/Pause button while you release the Reset button. The Rescue Mode screen will
then appear.
4. After the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button

It will display the following options.
Clean Up Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

ZEN V Plus frozen on creative screen


you might need to format the player by holding the play button as you press reset, this will bring up the options to reset of format the plkayer update firmware etc etc.

Says it's not docked, but it it is


Is your hardrive ok chceck it by listening to it and if you hear a clicking sound then its stuffed. Try reinstalling the CD that came with it and then reload the firware it soud work.
