I have a lexmark printer x5495 and i installed it in my computer just now and received a test page but now when i try to print on line it says it is printing but nothing comes out

    please note i cant get the job to cancel even though i go in and try to cancel it - i set up
    and when i printed a test page it worked fine
    but when i print or try to print off the internet or work pad it wont print- it says printing but nothing comes out -on the copier part it works fine plus i have not set up the fax part of the machine could that be the problem and -could i have the hook up to computer in wrong slot?

    ok so i turned off the computer and turn it back on and it printed all the pages but since i deleted all the printers that means i have to reinstall the disk again right -and what message do i wait for to see if it is running correctly

    i just started printing this page you guys gave me the information on and then i went to an email
    and started printing that - but it still says i have one document pending so i think somehow the cancelation mode did not work but i am able to print now i hope it keeps up -thanks people

Go to control panel and then devise manager find printers click it se where it says your printer right click , update driver , let it search the internet. and then install driver that should work for you.

Make sure your printer is plugged in to the right connection on the computer. if it is and turned on a alert bubble should come up says found new hardware. when that comes up click on it so you can finish the installation. you will need to put the disk back into you drive. than once the install hardeware comes up you will need to push this time only and next. than next again it should be on the recommended option for cd drive. once that is done the computer will search for the drivers needed to complete the installation off your disk. once complete you may need to restart the computer. than once restarted try to print off the wordpad and see if it solved the problem.

Try running your Printer on a PC with any other OS (other than Vista) and if it works, visit Lexmark Website and Download any Patch(es), if available for Vista, else contact Lexmark Customer Care.

Go to control panel> printers and faxes, and delete the printer.
Go to lexmark.com search your printer model and you can downloaded the latest software for your OS. make sure in printers and faxes that the printer you have installed is the default printer with the check mark. I will be happy to assist you further so please don't reject my help.

    Also just for future information why I recommend downloading the software/drivers off the website is because most times it will be newer then what comes on the installation disk and also is a sure way to make sure the disk is not the culprit.

To get the printer uninstalled:

click start, then go to all programs, look for your printer utility and you will see an uninstall option.

you may also run the CD that came with the printer, let it initial and Lexmark install wizard will provide you options if you want to remove, reinstall or repair the currently installed printer.

but if you did not run the CD in your computer (since it is vista and has preloaded drivers):

go to "Control Panel", then click "Printers" right click ont he printer icon then "delete". you will have to confirm the command and your computer will select another printer icon as the default printer. after this you may now get it reinstalled, using the Lexmark Vista drivers, and not the drivers that was provided by vista.

    on your vistas control panel make sure it is in classic view, then look for "programs and features" if that is what you are looking for.

    just restart he computer and it will loose the printing status on your taskbar, then you may uninstall the device from your computer.

    well generally after installing the printer it will confirm that it is online and ready (on control panel > Printers). once it does you may now be able to print again from your lexmark.

You can go to the add/remove programs then select the printer software then click on remove The driver will be removed as well. Or you can go via programs then select the printer then select uninstall. AFter that shut down the computer and printer. turn it back on and run the CD again.

    It would be best if you uninstall via the programs list instead. Make sure as well that the driver that you use is the one for Vista. To be able to be sure you can download the file from the link below

    Shut down the computer then turn off the printer. Turn it back on and purge all your print jobs then do the uninstall.

This is the best solution u just uninstall ur printer driver and install this one because i dont knw what is ur OS so i let u pick up the right one.

the original driver and software.

after the installation rebbot the system and see what u got

Open up the printers and faxes. start -> control panel -> printers (and faxes) it may also be start -> printers and faxes

see the status of your printer, is it online / Ready? or offline?

Try first to turn off the power of the printer and the computer for about 5 minutes then try to print again , if still not printing cancel all the print jobs and try to print again...

    Yes I agree with voodoomox because Vista has a capability to install software to devices like printer , so to make sure your using the software from the setup Cd better run it first then just follow the step by step procedure..

    Since it still printed all the pending print jobs try first to print a new document and see if it will wokr, because if it work printer is already working and only needs to be restarted...

    Ok just run the setup CD and it will tell you what to do and when it say do a test print and print out a test print its already working fine......

The Lexmark x5495 printer is not printing correctly. The printout is not aligned properly. The printout is crooked. How can you solve this problem?


Try to re-seat your cartridges and make sure they are properly inserted in the cartridge carrier.
If that doesn't help, please do the Align Cartridges function on your printer. From the printer operator panel, while on Copy mode, press the Menu button > Tools > Maintenance > Align Cartridges. You printer will then print a test page that will help align the cartridges.
After the page is printed, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed. Thanks.

My computer wont find my lexmark x5495


It could be due to the printer driver not installed properly. Try to uninstall your existing Lexmark printer driver first before installing the new driver. To do that, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X5400 Series Printer > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, restart your pc when prompted.
To re-install the printer driver, please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X5495 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.
Then try to print a document to verify that the printer driver is properly installed.

Is the Lexmark x5495 wireless? If it is, how do you connect it to a laptop. I lost my installation disk.


The Lexmark X5495 printer is not a wireless printer, however, you have the option to connect it to a wireless print server. You can then connect the wireless print server to your wireless network so all the computers connected to your network will have access to the printer.
To connect the printer to your laptop, please visit the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/hsBChY to download and install the printer driver. Execute the file and follow the instructions on your computer screen.

My lexmark 5300 all in one gives me a "web gateway encountered a problem..." message and the printer's functions will not work.


Does your printer print when you try to make a copy using the Copy button on the printer operator panel? If yes, then it could be a printer driver problem. Try to re-install the printer driver on your computer. You can download the Lexmark X5495 driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/gKXn7F. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After the installation is successful, try to print again.

Lexmark x5495 all in one.paper does not come out when printing


It seems there is a possibility of a problem with the printer itself, or perhaps the cartridge. You should first self-test the printer. Since we are unsure where the problem exists, we must do eliminative troubleshooting to rule out parts of the printing system. The self-test allows us to rule out software and the cable by testing the hardware by itself. Please note that this is not a "fix," but rather a diagnostic test to determine if your hardware is at fault.

Please begin by disconnecting the power supply from the wall (not the back of the printer) for at least "30 seconds." Then plug the printer back in.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Make sure the printer is in “Copy Mode.”
2. Press the “Menu” button once.
3. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Copies”.
4. Press the left arrow button once. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Tools”.
5. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Tools: Maintenance”.
6. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Maintenance: Ink Levels”.
7. Press the right arrow button until the screen reads “Maintenance: Print Test Page”.
8. Press the check button once. This will start the Self-Test. Once the page has printed, the printer will stop. The test is not continuous.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either a solid black or solid color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, please try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only a color cartridge installed (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed). If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues - we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.

If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

Lexmark does not allow refilled cartridge on any of their products.

Lexmark, HP and Canon and-many other vendors use proprietary code to protect themselves against the damage of OEM inks.

All companies will void warranties.

  • Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
  • Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications
  • restart the computer
  • try to download drivers from the website
  • after installing the cannon drivers and software it will ask you to connect the printer. 
  • then you can connect the printer and print a test page.

Will not Print


Try a hardware check of the printer first. To check the hardware of the printer, do the following:
  1. Switch off the printer.
  2. Load one sheet of paper into the paper feeder.
  3. Press the Power button and the Paper Feed button at the same time and hold them both down for three seconds. Then release the Power button only.
  4. When the printer begins to print, release the Paper Feed button. A page will be printed. The page should contain some text at the top and a series of horizontal color lines (cyan, magenta and yellow) below the text, with a thick black line below the colored lines. All the lines should be solid.
  5. When the test is complete, switch off the printer. NOTE: If you do not switch off the printer, it will continue to print.
