Pb6100 Did you ever find out the problem for your blank white screen on your pb6100? I have the same issue and would like to know what others have done before trying to hunt down a new motherboard. Thanks in advance, SM

I think the problem has to do with the videochip component. Perhaps it went misconfigures and need to be flashed. Iwouldn't know how to do this, though.

In any case the problem has nothing to do with your motherboard, because this symthom points to internal problems rather than PC gear hardware.

We have the PB6100 and it says to clean dust filter, but I don't know how to get to it.

There is no dust filter, you just need a computer vacuum to remove the dust.

Projector displays reverse image also has grayish purple color

Use the remote to go into the menu and change the screen position. There are 4 to choose from, flip left, flip right, flip upside down left, flip upside down right. It may be tricky to navigae the menu backward though.

Blue screen

Hi Guys,

I recently struck this issue with one of our PB6100's. To resolve I did the following:
  1. Enter service menu (found on AVForums): PRESS AND HOLD UP BUTTON UNTIL LAMP HOURS ARE DISPLAYED, PRESS THE POWER AND BLANK BUTTONS TOGETHER
  2. Under the Fan menu select "More Options". You should then be in the "Fac7 Submenu".
  3. Select "Hard Reset". Note that this will reset the lamp hours also!
  4. Power off & then on again. Test input.

The above worked for me. Hope it helps.

It just shows a blank white screen when I turn it on

Hi beans88

This is unfortunately a faulty Mainboard that will either have to be repaired or replaced.

The Part Number of this board is : 55.J8601.001 and if you decide to rather replace than repair it , you could expect to pay in the region of $125 for this part.

Thanks for using Fixya and good luck.

BenQ PB6100 extremely dim screen/projection

Hi skeeterJ

This is most probably your lamp , I have had loads of PB6100 's that has even had less hours on the lamp than yours and needed replacement.

Keep in mind that the 2000-3000 hours they talk about on a lamp is just a rough factory estimate. The time you get on a lamp is determined by how you use the Projector - because at the end of the day the lamp is just like a globe in your home - it doesn't like being swithed on and off for short periods. This is a mistake most Projector owners make - by thinking they are saving the bulb's lifetime and switching it off for short periods.

You can take my word on this as I am a Authorised BenQ Service Technician.

I've had clients who got 10 000 hours on one bulb just because they left the unit running for longer periods.

Lamp Part No : 60.J8618.CG1

Easiest way to make 100% sure before investing in a new lamp is to take out the lamp by opening the lamp door at the bottom.
Check for any vein like looking marks in either white or black or a bubble on the shaft.

If you have any further troubles or questions , feel free to post another posting and I'll answer it for you ASAP.

Thanks for using Fixya and good luck !

PB6100:No picture display

The projector needs to be turned on first, then connect it to the laptop. If the picture still does not show at that point, press the FN and the LCD keys on your laptop at the same time. This should work.
