THE INTERCOM SYSTEM IN MY HOME HAS BEEN SOUNDING LIKE A DOORBELL SINCE 4:20AM. I HAVE THE WALL MOUNTS IN 14 ROOMS AND THEY ALL ARE MAKING THAT NOISE. I TURNED ALL THE POWER IN THE HOUSE OUT FOR 30 SECONDS AND THAT DIDNT WORK. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO.

  • nzingainc May 30, 2011

its not a plug in intercom system. It's the kind that is permanately in the wall. It can monitor all rooms or just one, it has the capability to answer the door and all. That feature isn't hooked up.

  • nzingainc May 30, 2011

no there's no way to power them off individually.

In any of the one room, there will be main controller for all room intercoms. The sensor is got triggered in the intercom and that is triggering the alarm to make such sound in all rooms. Just get the main controller connections checked. It will be like little box.It will be only in one room and in other rooms its just built in.So you will have to check as to in which room the main controller is.--------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi nzingainc,

I see that you need assistance with your Grey Fox Intecom, you mentioned that it started to ring like a doorbell all over 13 rooms.

Try unplugging all the intercom connections one by one then reconenct each again to see if the probelm will still occur.

If the issue is still the same, you will need to check each console in every room for Feedback issues.

Feedback issues can normally be

eliminated by adjusting the volume of a
unit from a high level to a medium level.

and check for any of the console if any of them has a the Talk button stuck or something.

Oh OK, thanks for the Update.

Hmmmm..... you mentioned that you turned the power off in the House then put it back on and still the issue is the same.

Is there a way to disable each of the intercoms individually? I know you mentioned the devices are mounted in the walls.

Intercom wirings are considerably delicate and contain ? lot of connections throughj them. Simply try ? system reset this you can accomplish by cutting out power to the entire house for about 30seconds and turning power back on. Or simply just getting all intercomms of power supply till you get the company to come take a look at It in the morning. Hope this solution has been helpful?

Well, this is a bad news for you. Just think of the damage that electrostatic discharge can do to these electronic devices; how much more the sudden fluctuation of the power lines can do or the electromagnetic interference resulting from the thunderstorm. This is why such electronic devices are strongly recommended to be unplugged when not in use or during thunderstorms and the likes. Unplug the device for several hours to allow the microprocessor to reset. Have it serviced by a qualified technician should the microprocessor doesn't reset after unplugging.

When you reprogrammed, did you do #505, group 7 to tell the phone system what ports the voicemail was? The voicemail is picking up because the ports are set to ring (which gets turned off, when you tell the system those are voicemail extensions by using #505)

If there were phones that were paged before, my guess is that they were in a calling group, then there were buttons set to page the calling group. (Intercom *72, 73, 74, etc) Intercom *70, pages overhead as well as the phones in group 1 (71)

I have a NEC ETW 16DC-2 phone that does not ring with calls

The telephone instrument you have can be used on the NEC Electra Professional Level I, and the Level II systems (and under some conditions the NEAX 2000 series). Codes for features are somewhat different based on the system. It is possible that your phone is in "Do-Not-Disturb" if other phones on your system actually ring when they are called via the intercom (on the Level I and Level II systems, initial intercom ring is a system wide setting). The cancel DND code is: Level I system: with telephone idle, press <FNC>, dial 60, press <FNC>. Level II system: with telephone idle, press <FNC>, dial 69, press <FNC>.
It is also possible that your ring volume is very low. To adjust, press <SPKR>, dial 601, then adjust volume using the up/down keys at the bottom of the phone (press <SPKR> when finished. If your system is programmed to access an outside line when you press <SPKR>, you will need to press the <INTERCOM> button first.)
If your system is set for voice intercom, people calling your phone can make it ring by dialing a "1" after your intercom number.
If you do all this and your phone still won't ring on incoming calls, let me know and we'll have to go into system programming to correct it.

Night Bell/Ring

Hi Lauri, when the incoming caller rings your number the ringing sound you hear is from the intercom ( Call 1 ) button on the phones programmed to ring. If you only want a few phones to ring, like the Station Group programmed in MMC 601 it will require accessing several different MMC's and you can really mess up your ringing assignments and not get any calls at all. I know you do not want to hear this but do you have a Vendor that takes care of your system? This is a problem/request that an experienced Sansumg Tech should tackle. Let me know your city and I can find you a local Tech. .....Mike
