I have had this happen when the gfci plug gets water in it after running down the chord due to improper balancing of unit upon installation, there may be many other reasons, but I would check that first. You may need a star bit to open it. Or Try shaking it to see if you can hear anything.

RANGE CAUSES GFCI FAULT

the stove should be on it's own outlet and not a gfi, also have you tried to plug anything else into that plug to see if it's the gfi that's bad?if it is the stove check for shorted wires, bad ignitor or something like that,if you plug it in and it pops right away it sounds like you have a direct short and have to pull off the back panel and check for a wire that's touching metal or a burn mark somewhere and send the model number off of the machine

There is no power going to the unit

Your washer has what is called a GFCI or ground fault circuit interrupt. Near the cord end there are two buttons one for testing the circuit the other for setting the breaker. If you push in the button to set the breaker and it immediately pops back up you more than likely have a failed GFCI. Check for voltage making it past the GFCI by using a voltmeter on the main power switch. You should have 110V when you test across the hot and common (white and black) wires. If not your GFCI is bad and will need to be replaced. You can purchase replacements directly from www.landanw.com. I have a samsung RS21DCSV And It keeps tripping out the power But when I Disconnect the 2 conectors on the compressor it stays on what is my problem Cheers and Thanks Clive!!!!

If it's popping the reset button on a GFCI outlet, I would recommend rewiring the outlet with no GFCI. Your compressor has a small leak to ground. The cost to replace the compressor is $500+. It should work fine with no GFCI. A good test is to plug it into an extension cord that is plugged into a regular outlet.

Hello,I have an old jacuzzi vectra II hot tub (1988) 120 volt.the gfci on the unit trips every time the pump is on low speed with the thermostat calling for heat. there is no trip when there is no demand...

hi,

ok so when the pump is on high and the heater is running it doesent trip? you didnt say if it did. undo the heater leads so the pump is isolated completely. run the pump on the control centers gfci and see if it trips. if it does then try wiring directly - with an extension cord to a plug with a gfci in your house and see if it trips the gfci in your bathroom. if no trip inside house then bypass tubs gfci and run it with heater and pump through your bathroom gfci. if no trip then try and replace the tubs gfci, it gets pretty humid in the control center and gfci's have a semiconductor which which do fail after years of rough duty like that. if it trips the gfci in your house with the heater again it has a cracked heater element. craigslist always has old hot tubs and parts. you might have to buy a whole used old hot tub but that may be cheaper than a new heater box.

Whirlpool refrigerator trips gfci outlet

Yes ,, if the fridge outlet is behind the fridge and therefore not accessible for use by counter top appliances .. then yes change it to a regular outlet.
The cause is probably the compressor, getting a bit noisy..electrical noise I mean.

GFCI Trips After an Hour

It is possible that the extention cord is the problem. Over time wires will heat voltage will drop. Along with the added distance on the code the voltage drop cause a drain and trips the GFCI. Try replacing GFCI and also try opperating without the extension cord.

30 amp 2 pole GE GFCI breaker pops on hot tub after hrs of use

I have seen circuit breakers trip at a lower amperage. It seems that they are weak. Generally circuit breakers run with 80% load with no problem, in your case 24 amps. I would replace the circuit breaker.

Kenmore side by side w/icemaker extended power outage

threre may be something shorted inside of the refrigeratoer because the gfci is tripping out. and or when the compressor tries to come on the start components are weak and it draws too much amperage. Either way you are going to have to call a serveice professional. Thanks For using Fixya. and Merry Xmas!!!

Power failure

Code actually calls for the refrigerator to be on a separate circuit for this reason. you may have a refrgerator that may have a higher voltage spike at compressor start up and that is causing the trip. You can try upgrading your GFCI to a 20amp (most are 15amp). Although you may have to replace with a standard outlet if the problem does not subside.
