Question about Televison & Video

I was trying to hook up a DVD player via the Component 1 and I also tried the Component 2, when hooked up I got a picture and perfect sound but the screen was like watching a black and white pic. It may need cleaning, is there anyway to clean up inside the AV plugs in the TV?

I would not recommend it other than maybe a keyboard duster, the problems your are encountering sounds like cable issue symptoms. have you tried swapping out the cable.

I did swap out the cable, actually I hooked up my Wii to the same components and had the same thing happen, but I hooked it up to the input plug and both the DVD and Wii worked, so problem solved there, but I would still like to know what's going on with my Component 1&2 hook ups. Sorry for my non technology talk, I don't really know how to describe other than the way I have. THanks!!!

Digital Coaxial not working on DVD player

There might be several problems. As the projector has component only connections and the DVD player none, then if the Receiver has component out, you can hook it up to that. If the receiver has HDMI inputs then you can connect the DVD player via the HDMI socket to it. The Coax sockets on the DVD player will be for sound. Number one should be connected to Digital coax 1 and assigned for it.
It's possible that the sound on the DVD player is switched off on the coax or has the wrong format selected. You will need to see the player's menu for this, so if you can't see the screen using the projector, connect a TV instead.
However if the receiver has no component out and no HDMI sockets you will have real problems connecting the DVD and using the projector with it. Though you should be able to hear the sound via the Denon.

I had the same sort of problem with my DVD player. I tried another one and it worked for both video and audio so I concluded the old DVD had bitten the dust. Make sure you hook up the other DVD (that works) in the same manner as the one that doesn't work so you limit the parameters to whether the old one works or not.

Sound but no picture on TV

Try hooking your components up to the "AV1" and "AV2" jacks on the TV. I experienced this when hooking up my DVD and VCR (movies of my kids so kept it around). I hooked one to AV1 jacks and one to COMPONENT jacks and had the same result you're describing. Hope this helps.

Mitsubishi 55 in. 1080 series

If I remember correctly, this TV has a couple of constraints that will cramp your style:

1. It supports 480i, 480p and 1080i. NO 720P
2. It has component video inputs, but NO HDMI. (as you stated)

There is no easy solution here, because I've never found an upconverting DVD player that would upconvert anything past 480p using the analog component outputs...

So..

Perhaps you can find an Upconverting BLU-RAY disk player that may allow older DVDs to be upconverted to 1080i via the component outputs.

MOST Blu-Ray players allow 1080i output via the analog connections on Blu-Ray discs, so perhaps there is your solution.

No Picture from Component Input #1 or #2 but do have audio via Surrond Sound

Simplest thing would be that your component cables are not HU'd correctly. Having them reversed would do this.

"No Signal" when DVD player is hooked up via component video

If you are using the same cables, same input and the cable box works ok. I would look into the settings of the DVD player. Such as is it a progressive playback and is progressive turned on. It is not turned on by default because not all TV's could handle progressive in.
