Question about HP Compaq nc6320 Notebook

I have an hp compaq nc6320 laptop that i am trying to reboot and nothing seems to be working right, when i restart the computer it only makes it to the windows did not load properly screen and restarts again and when i try the reboot option it only lets me use the windows xp disk and after a couple minutes it gives me the option of setting up windows xp but when i choose that option it says setup did not find any hard disk drives on your computer, i cant afford $150 to have it rebooted again and its having the same problems it did a couple months back, what should i do?

It sounds like a hard drive problem to me. If the computer does not see a hard drive, that is usually not a good sign. You might contact the shop that did the work and inform them that you are still having problems. A good shop will often give consideration (discounted or free labor) for a similar problem within a short time.
You did not mention what was done to your PC in the shop, but if they installed a new hard drive, etc., then you should have a warranty with that.
Normally a repair of $150 is kind of a lot unless there were parts involved.
Short of that a hard drive diagnostic will give more insight into the potential of this kind of problem. A good free one is called DFT, and you can download it but it's a bootable disc, so you need access to a computer with a CD burner, a blank disc, and CD burning software.

Burn that image file onto a CD, then insert it into your laptop and boot from it (ESC brings up the boot menu on HP's).
From there, I would run the advanced diagnostic on the drive.

1st of all you have to make sure your hard disk in enabled in system setup. maybe f2 when you boot. go into hard disks and see if your hard drive shows up. then boot priority and make sure your your hard drive has a check next to it because the check means its enabled. if not then it looks like you might have a bad hard drive. you can try to purchase a usb enclosure and install your hard drive inside,then take it to any 2.0 usb pc or laptop port and see if you can retrieve any important data then do a full format and install it back into your laptop and install windows again

I cannot find any printscreen or prtsc button on my (second hand) HP compaq nc6320. Can I make one with quickbuttons or so ..?


You should have a blue [fn] button to the right of the [ctrl] key. Hold it down and press [insert] at the same time. My NC6320 has lots of these functions printed in blue on the keys.

Laptop not working


try to boot the computer in safemode with networking .

first shut down the computer and then while u turn on the computer start pressing F8 on the computer for 12 times and it will give you an option for advanced boot option from the list select safe mode with networking and then try to boot the computer ,,,,,once u log on to safe mode then go to run and in run type in msconfig ,,,in system configuration box select services and disable unwanted services and then restart the computer on normal boot and then the system will work fine ,,,,,,

...choose the appropriate operating system you have, download the driver files for the "Chipset" and run the file afterwards. Reboot and test the USB mouse. The chipset drivers are for updating the software for your motherboard, which includes the USB controller.

Hi,

No problem. You need to enter The bios, And get the computer to start from The CD/DVD rom drive.
Put windows in the Drive, and you should be able to reboot from there with options to Format et,c.

Any problems Just Ask.
